Light bulb on rear left side went out, can find hoe to get into the manual don't give a instructions

First you want to check all your fuses because VW uses a seperate fuse for all bulbs. The acess to the rear bulbs is from inside the rear compartment. You should see a small pop out panel.

My tail lights in my 2002 VW Beetle keep going out. I've tried bulbs from Walmart, and VW OEM parts, and still have the same problem. Do I need to replace the connectors or the wiring???

The brake light switch has been recalled on New Beetles. I've replaced mine twice on my 2001. I was reimbursed by VW both times. I just had my regular mechanic fix it and turned in the paperwork. You can take it to the dealer and they should cover it, but I hate going to dealers because they always try to say something else is wrong with the car.

How do i change my rear indicator bulb in my 04 beetle?

open rear hatch and look strait down on inside boot well. the plastic trim has access holes that pop out on either side just behind the lights. pop out the access cover on the side with burnt bulb, then reach inside that hole and you will fins a large plastic "wingnut", unscrew it<careful not to drop it or you'll have to take the whole boot apart to retrieve it> after removing wingnut carefully pop out lens from outside , replace bulb and reinstall after testing
