My 318ti coolant fan is not working. just changed the radiato and bled the system. the fan only comes on when the ac is on.

fan will not come on until pre determined temp has been reached
will come on with a/c that is normal to lower condensor freon pressure
you do not state a overheating problem is the temp gauge going way up
or stays normal

Heater works part time

Can be low coolant level or water pump problem.
Check the coolant level.
Also alternator (serpentine belt) can be a problem too.
Good Luck

RE: BMW 318ti 1995 Temperature rises

While driving sounds like Thermostat.  If you're on a idle, then you can suspect the fan, but moving is more on the thermostat stuck closed.
