The problem may be in the installation process of the box
the correct procedure is to put the torque converter onto the shaft of the transmission first and push it all the way back to engage the oil pump for the transmission
install the transmission then pull the torque converter forward to install the bolts through the flexi plate
putting the torque converter in first then putting the box up generally results in the drive for the oil pump not connecting properly in the torque converter

SOURCE: cant get 5th gear or reverse on ford escort 1.6

This may simply be a case that the gear linkage is twisted too far round to the right, so that when the lever is pushed as far to the right as it can be, its not actually pushing the gearbox over far enough.
Try slackening the clamp bolt(s) and twising the shaft 1-2mm in one direction (the direction that moving the lever to the left is) If its no different or worse, twist it 2-3mm in the opposite direction.

I have 2003 RA Holden Rodeo 3.0 ltr T/Diesel. The 2 front wheels don't seem to be engaging when i put it into 4wd (high or low range). I can hear the high and low range click in when i press the buttons...

Does yours have AUTO hubs, there are some luxory models have auto hubs, these rely on difference in drive on the axles,(wheel spin) others have manual locking hubs, these actually need to be engaged manually, these require you to twist the centre of the hub to engage and disengage the front hubs, these sometimes require you to reverse to disengage properly, Rodeo had both depending on model. Motor is burning oill

answer 1-Sorry but this could be horrible news engine wise, one of your piston rings might be broken.Probably the bottom one that scrapes oil back down as the piston goes to bottom dead center.
To fix would mean an engine rebuild. You said "burning" other wise your using to thin of an oil.

Answer 2-Your car may have a short somewhere, like mine did. My car wouldn't start in 4th but while driving i would lose a bit of power and i would be stuck in 4th till i turned it off for a while.

hope this helps

BMW 523 Auto gerbox when cold change from 1 to 2 gear is hard

hello there

The problem is with the gear oil. To keep ahead of the rest BMW started what they call life time oil for their gear boxes, though that sounds great it doesn't really work in reality, they have now gone back to recommending a gear oil change every 60k miles.

In short you need to change your gear oil and soon, the oil in your gear box is no longer effective and will damage the gear box. You'll need about 5 litres for your car and costs around £15 a litre, expensive stuff!! I had the same problem with my 328i auto, the dealer was clueless and kept quoting the lifetime oil, I changed the oil and the problem has gone and it's so much smoother.

Hope this helps, please don't forget to rate me.
