Hi,
You need to tell us what part you want to replace , there are very few parts that require engine removal to be replaced (the engine and few more).
Tell us what part you want to replace, we will try to help.
Thanks

No you do not have to remove the engine. Even if removing the engine may help access you can still replace the timing chain cover gasket with the engine in the car.
The repair is not an easy task, you will need to drain fluids, remove the serpentine belt, remove the alternator and brackets, remove the idler-tensioner pulleys, remove front crankshaft pulley using a puller, remove the bolts holding the timing cover to the engine.
Once you have done all this you will get to the timing chain cover gasket. To remove the cover undo all bolts and lift them out along with the cover, mark the bolts as they may have different lenghts. Replace the part and re assemble everything in reverse order.
Said like that it may look easy, but it is a complicate job, and for that reason it is charged good money at the garage.

Change timing belt. Check owners manual. Cannot find any information in manual.

It won't be in the owners manual you need to purchase a service manual for your vehicle Haynes is a basic one that is quite helpful for the engine work

2001 Lincoln LS engine locked up. I had a independent mechanic change a coil on my engine and when he got done the car started but when I tried to start the car all I got was a clicking noise from the...

To start - its probably worth more to put a used engine in than to junk the car.
Normally a dealer is the right choice for a second opinion, but you may want to get a third. I know it will not be free, but the story you are getting from the shop sounds fishy. Changing a coil would not cause the engine to lock up, and I've never heard of being able to see a problem on the outside of an engine unless it has a connecting rod sticking out.
I would want to know why the engine seized, and if it can be fixed before you consider replacing it.

Don't worry about it. The belts are for accessories, and have nothing to do with valve-clearance,

I want to replace the coil pack assciated with cylinder 2, but don't know which one to replace.

Your car either has a 2.0L or the 2.4L 4-cylinder engine. All 4-cylinder engines are super easy to locate the cylinder orientation. Find the front of the engine where the belts are, the closest cylinder at the front of the engine is #1. Followed by #'s 2, 3, and 4 all in order. The firing order is 1-3-4-2, but that is only the order that they fire in, not there location. So #2 is the 2nd coil back from where the belts are.

I hope this info helps!

I have 1994 chevy suburban, and I wanted to know the cost of the replacement of my old engine and to replace it with my used engine and what the labor hours would be?

so you just want to know the flat rate hours to put an engine in? 10.7 hours plus .4hrs with a/c .2hrs if has oil cooler. so around 11-12 hours is fair. now if oil pan, timing cover etc has to be swapped then this ccan cost more. this is the time for a complete assembly with transfer of parts.thanks for using fixya, let me know if I can assist you further

Timing belt replacement interval

This vehicle shouldn't have a timing belt. Are you wanting to know about the timing chain? What engine size is it? It should be a 4.0 v6 but do you know if it is a OHV engine or a SOHC engine?

Engine siezed ... repair man wants 2600 dollars to repair...doesn't that seem high? Carless in Virginia

No, that sounds about right. Depending what's wrong with it, the simplest thing is to replace the whole engine. Sounds drastic I know, but it's not nearly as painful as diagnosing a seized engine.

You can shop around for 'crate' engines, and your guy could probably find a junkyard engine that would work. I'd recommend a crate motor though, they usually have a decent warranty.

Good Luck!

you can install any engine as long as you have a good mechanic willing to take on the task! this will be very expensive and wont be worth the value of the car
