Question about 1988 Toyota Camry
On my '90 Toyota Camry, the shoulder strap/s of the seat belt/s, (both driver's & passenger's) are supposed to ride along the window track and automatically belt you in when you start (or put in gear) the car, and neither are working. The lap belt is manual and can still be used, however, given the fact these shoulder belts don't slide to their proper position or operate I may get a ticket from the police. I need to determine HOW TO FIX THEM, is it a fuse, a relay, or just poor design flaw, and need to be replaced entirely?
The lap belt is enough for the police. The auto shoulder belts were an optional add on. The lap belts are the primary restraint and satisfy the seat belt requirement. That said, adding the shoulder belts make it a heck of a lot safer.
