My truck is stuck in four wheel drive

At the risk of going to the offensive, sometimes it's the simplest thing - you ARE putting it in neutral, at a stop, engine running, with the brake pedal pressed, when trying to shift out of 4wd, yes?

2) Check for blown fuse for 4x4 shift module

3)This sounds dumm, but worked on my wife 99. I took it to a school parking lot, put it in reverse, floored it and pulled on the lever and it popped out of 4x4

4) The shift motor is bad. Replace it.

Hope this helps.

My 2003 ford taurus overheats when driving around town, stop & go, but on highway temperature goes back to normal

I had the same problem with my 99 ford taurus. My ford taurus did exactly did same things that your vehicle is doing. runs cool on the freeway because the air is going through the radiator and cooling the water down.I checked the cooling fans, radiator and hoses for leaks also replaced my thermostat. nothing solved the problem. turns out that the new antifreeze does not come with a lubercant property any longer. you have to buy the lubercant additive separately and then add it to your cooling system when you replace the antifreeze. the lubercant protects your freeze plugs, water pump, radiator, thermastat from rusting out. Meanwhile because of the absents of the lubercant, my water pump impellers rusted out and dissolved. so the water pump had no fins to circulate the water. Luckly for me, I discovered that my car was still under warranty due to an extended warranty I had purchased when I bought the car. ford dealership replaced the water pump. Problem Solved.

Putters when driving

We need more information. I am thinking fuel filters and/or a weak fuel pump. Always consider the least expensive first. Some people drive on the last eighth of a tank of gas, and never put in more than a few dollars worth of gasoline. At night when it cools down the ambient air in the tank cools down and the moisture in the air condenses out to form water in the fuel. Water in the fuel will make any vehicle putter when driving. If such is a possibility then buy a couple of little bottles of fuel line antifreeze even in the summer and pour it in the fuel. The pure alcohol mixes with the water in the bottom of the tank and takes it through the motor and out the exhaust. The puttering stops if the problem was water in the fuel. In future fill the tank and drive on the top half of the tank. The fuel in a nearly empty tank in the summer gets so hot that it cannot cool down the fuel pump under normal use. In the hot summer it is paramount to drive on at least a half full tank. Cars driven on the last liter or gallon of gas burn out the fuel tank pumps in short order. Keep the fuel level over the half mark winter and summer. Save hundreds of dollars on replacement of fuel pumps.

My heater core went out so i replaced it but that didn't fix the heat. its blowing could air. last year it would be hot one minute and warm the next. and the guy that fixed the heater core said it looked...

if the engine is full of stop leak it would over heat not no heat. check the thermostat & make sure it's not stuck open with stop leak. then make sure you bleed all the air from the system.

Good luck.
