Question about 2000 Subaru Outback

1 Answer

Alarm On no remote

I bought a 2000 subaru outback at auction, after replacing the front driver side door the security system will not go off. I did not get the remote with the car, the red sensor on the dash blinks, the parking lights flash and the horn blows. The car won't even start, so I unhook the battery and it starts all over. Any ideas?

Reset the system by removing both battery terminals
Hold the positive and negative together for 30 seconds
The. Reinstall both terminals
The system will re learn for the next 10 miles or so
If it happens again to the light
We will have to try another approach

2005 subaru outback immobilizer reset? Alarm was set with door being unlocked with key, immobilizer shut off all power. How can this be reset?

This could be a few things. If the security system was enabled and you just unlocked the door with a key and not using the remote, then all you have to do is put the key in the ignition and turn on/off three times. That's it!

Some cars have immobilizer keys. The immobilizer prevents unauthorized keys from starting the car (yours may or may not have it, depending on the exact Outback model).

Look here for the different styles of immobilizer keys:

2009 Subaru Outback front and back marker lights will not shut off. Security light is flashing... Help?

Hello, Ok, first... If you can still lock and unlock the car with your remote normally, the security system is working normally, when the car is off and the key is out of the ignition, door open, closed, locked, or unlocked, that security light will blink every 3 seconds or so. Second, look on top the steering column cover to find a small rocker switch, that is your park lamp override switch that allows you to turn on your park lamps with the key off because Subaru's cut all accessory light power once the key is off, they just wanted you to have that choice. This is most likely your problem, I hope this info helps...(subyguru)...

The security indicator flashes twice about every 2 seconds. It does this all the time, with the ignition on or off. The alarm is activated and the system can be armed and disarmed with the remote. How can...

check your manual under security system. i think there is a way to disable it. on some outbacks there is a plug in the drivers kick panel that when unpluged the secutiy system will disable. but keyless enrty will still work
