Check all the basics first. all the tires are the same. all the tires pressures are good. No bald tire and three good ones.. Look at backside of tires. No mud or anything near sensors and thier all plugged in. If accessable unplug the wheel sensors and inspect. This is all you can do. If this doesnt help you may need a scanner to further diagnose.

When I go to stop, my car thinks we are sliding. Then the brake pedal will push and makes that noise like its sliding. Is it a bad speed sensor? No lights come on when it does it

You are experiencing premature ABS activation. This can be caused by bad wheel speed sensors.wiring, loose wheelbearings, broken tone wheel on cv shaft etc. You will have to have the data scanned to isolate the affected wheel causing the problem

Abs and traction control dash lites come on and off at various time..sometimes never come on

Your abs and traction control lights should only come on when you start to slide while breaking(ABS), and when your wheels spin in place when excelerating(TC). If those 2 things don't happen, which with some people they never do, you should never see the lights come on. Only when those mechanisms are in use do the lights come on. And they will always flicker as that is what abs and tc are, intermitant surges to break up the constant. ABS does this for obvious reasons...anti lock break, so when you slide, the abs "taps" the breaks in short bursts so they don't lock up. TC "taps" the exclelrator when it slips. Those "taps" are what trigger the lights on your dash, which is why they flicker and don't stay on.

I have toyota sienna 2002 . ABS warning is coming on and off while driving. I checked with the local mechanic. He changed the wheel air pressure censor and changed the connecting wires too. but still the...

The wheel air pressure sensor only records the air pressure, the speed sensor or as its sometimes called abs sensor sends the signal that abs is engaged. When they malfunction it can send a false signal that the wheel is sliding or going slower than the other wheels which can engage the abs system or cause the abs light to eluminate. Have your mech check the speed sensors and abs system.

How do I know when my Traction control is working on my 2010 Touring? We live in Northeastern Ohio and I seem to be sliding alot when I go to stop and I'm not speeding. Thank You!

A good way of testing the traction control is to stop on a slippery road and then take off fast as to spin the wheels there when wheels start to spin the traction should activate and stop the spinning wheels you may hear it kick inand a light on the dash will say trac active or trac on, as far as sliding when stopping this is where the abs would come in,abs anti skid brake system, this system when you are braking would release the sliding or skidding wheel and you would felt it in the brake pedal, good luck, hope this helps.

Hi, I've got a 2001 Z28 where the brake/ABS lights on the dash go on randomly. When they do, if I try to stop, the rear end tends to slide and the ABS isn't working. I've had it to 3 different shops and no...

it is hard to diagnose an ABS problem with out seeing do it for yourself, but let me give it a try. first the reason the rear brakes try to lock when the lights are on is because when those lights come on the ABS computer shuts down the ABS system, so just remember when the lights are on you do not have ABS. Good to know if the roads are slick. If you find out why the rear brakes are trying to lock you will probably find the reason the lights are coming on I would check the rear wheel sensors, also check the posi. track unit in the rear differential it could be that the posi. unit is not releasing going around corners and that could also cause a problem with the ABS system. the way the system works is there is a computer that watches the wheel speed if when you apply the brakes if the computer sees one wheel slow faster then all the other wheels it will release the brake to that wheel. so if the posi. unit is trying to lock whatever happens to one wheel will effect the other wheel. GOOD LUCK. If your local shop has no luck you should probably brake down and go see the dealer.

Recently service 4 wheel drive lamp came on. And brake slide when

Check the electro-hydraulic control unit mounted on the left side frame underneath the cab. Its made up of the brake pressure modulator valve (bpmv) and the electronic brake control module (ebcm). This controls hydraulic pressure to the brake calipers to prevent wheel lock up. Also check the abs sensor mounted on the transfer case.

How do you change rear wheel bearing on mondeo 2002 tdci thanks? muzz.

The new bearing comes complete with hub and abs sensor, just remove the wheel, the brake caliper and disc, the connector for the abs, and the hub nut. Slide the worn hub off, fit the new one and refit components in the order you removed them. New bearing from Ford is over £200, but you should find a QH one for around £78 inc. vat.

You may have a wheel sensor or sensor ring damaged or defective at the one of the wheels, that will cause the ABS to think a wheel is locked up and give the problem you have. To disable the ABS remove the fuse or relay, I would not recommend this route, ABS can save your life and those you love in a out of control situation, SUV's are very prone to situations that ABS reallly saves you.........
