Question about 2004 Pontiac Sunfire

2 Answers

My 98 Pontiac grand prix's speedometer is not working properly. It works fine while the car is cold but as it starts to get warm, it begins to malfunction, stopping at approximately 50 mph even though im driving about 65. As I swerve back and forth, the speedometer moves drastically to different speeds. How would I fix this problem?

I have the same issue in my 98 Grand Prix. My car does NOT use a speedometer cable, even though I assumed it would, as the speedometer and odometer appear to be analog. However, it is all circuit board. there is no cable.

Im not getting any heat to come out my vents, going to be in 20's....cold ride! Should be a recall on this 2004 pontiac grande prix. What can I do?

If engine temp is warm, then either your heater core is clogged and needs flushed or your warm /cold door motor is not working properly(located under the dash). if you engine si not getting warm you have a bad thermostat.

When turning steering wheel to left very hard to turn untill car starts to move, when turn to right works fine

Sounds like the begining of a bad rack n pinion. We can eliminate the pump because the car turns to the right fine. There is no loss of fluid? The only thing left is the rack. It is a fairly commin issue. Use to call it morning sickness, The cars would be hard to turn in the morning or when first started but after running and warming up for a while they would start to work properly.

My Backup light are not working on my 98 Pontica Grand Prix.

First check for power at the light sockets and make sure they are properly grounded. The neutral start switch should also be the backup light switch (located on the transmission at the shift lever). If vehicle is starting in the correct shift positions, likely it is adjusted properly. However, have someone watch the backup lights and move shift lever through the gears. if while moving lever lights flash, switch may be slightly out of adjustment. Pink or dark blue wire should be power supply to switch, light green should send power to lights. This is powered by a 15a fuse on the fuse panel.
