Even a pump with failed seals and bearings will move coolant (will be noisy and leak though) Your problem sounds more like another problem, either the cooling fans are not coming on, you have a bad thermostat, plugged radiator or bad head gasket. If fans are OK, change thermostat and re-test for other problems.

2002 dodge caravan 4 cylinder. Recently replaced the radiator hoses and water pump, now vehicle is pushing fluid out the resivoir overflow spout. Causing the engine to overheat. What could cause this?

The problem is the coolant isn't circulation through the system. You are getting all the pressure on one side of system and the tank is the only place where the pressure can be released. Is the thermostat good? Is it installed correctly? Check for coolant in the radiator. After vehicle has been running but turned off feel the upper radiator hose is it under pressure and hot. Next feel the bottom hose is it under pressure and cooler than the upper hose. If the upper hose is not under pressure fix thermostat it's not working correctly. If lower hose is not under pressure something is wrong with the radiator

I think my water pump is out. How would I know

could be the water pump but I would be looking for a larger leak, like a radiator hose, radiator tank split
most water pumps leak a slow dribble and then mostly when running
have a pressure test done on the cooling system to find the exact location of the leak

My 2003 BMW 745Li runs hot in the city but on the hwy no problem makes high pitch noise I think its the Fan coming on and it shifts rough what could be the problem Thermostat maybe

May possibly be water pump also, squeeking comes from belts, if the pump is out the pulley may have locked up. Turn car on, and lift hood. Find serpentine belt and follow to water pump. You should be able to see if pulley is seized, belt will spin, but pulley will not. Also let car run for about 10 minutes, and check pressure in upper, and lower hoses to radiator, that will also let you know if your getting proper pressure.

Car getting hot. temp goes up when stopped and when running it goes down or when turn on heater. i need to know where the thermostat is and also if you can tell me ihow i would know if water pump is bad

water pumps leak when they fail from a weap hole in the pump.thermostats are usually at the
end of upper radiator hose, but not all some have them in the lower hose.i dont think your
problem is a bad thermostat,to me i'd think the cooling system is low on coolant have you checked? if it was & the system is now full check to make sure no air is in system.there should be a bleeder screw, look in the housing where the upper radiator hose connects to the engine for a screw. with the engine warm & running open screw to remove air.leave bleeder open until you have a constant flow of coolant then close & top off system.

Theres coolant leaking from somewhere i cant see i know its not from the radiator or or hose unless there's another hose i cant see. the leak is located under the motor mount running down the tranny on...

really this could be one of several issues, does the vehicle run Hot, are you having to fill the reservoir with water or coolant, there is a hose that runs from the cap (overflow hose) to the reservoir, in addition to the upper and lower hoses, finally the water pump. the water pump is equipped with weep holes, which allow fluid to weep out when the pump is bad. finally the thermostat, hopefully one of these can solve your issue, good luck!

My car is running hot now its makin a sound what can it be

I don't know what the noise might be, but if the vehicle is running hot, then you should check the radiator, hoses, and water pump for leaks. Make sure the coolant level is good and replace the thermostat. Engine overheating can cause serious engine damage. Also make sure you use care when dealing with the cooling system. It's hot liquid under great pressure, so be careful and seek assistance if needed. Hope this helped. Good luck and best wishes.

2002 V.W. Jetta 2.0 liter overheat

turn your heater on to max heat and high fan. then see if you can feel the hoses on the firewall for heat they should be hot. make sure that the fan unit on the radiatoris working if the upper radiator hose is hot the fans should be running if they are not that means that either the relay is bad the thermo sensor is bad or the fan unit is shot... please rate the solution..........thanks
