turning an engine over to check fuel flow only works on engines with mechanical fuel pumps
all electric pumps should produce full flow as soon as the ignition is turned on
if you have a efi car then have the fuel pressure checked at the fuel manifold as that will show a faulty pump, regulator problem or blockages to vents or hoses.
If you do not have a vacuum leak in a hose. then check the idle air control because this is what regulates the idle and sends this info to computer. You may have to take it off to clean it or replace if bad. Good-Day!
Does the fuel pump have a fuse? Carefully pour a little gas in throttle body to see it problem could be clogged injectors. Engine will run rough but keep going. Harder- check fuel pressure to see if the regulator is too low. Normal is 40-45 psi. Check injectors with ohm meter should read 13 ohms. This test involves removing the plenum and unplugging the wires. I do this one at a time to prevent switching the wires to wrong injector.
check the fuel pump you could hear a hissing sound when you turn the ignition on but have the engine off have somebody with you and if you dont hear its your fuel pump other thing is your relay have the check after that just in case your pump fine
replace the fuel filters sometimes little particals get into them and clog the fillter after a few mins running it then blocks the opening and strarves the engine for fuel
With out starting the jeep turn the key forward with the window down and see if you hear a wherlling or humming sound coming out of your gas tank, that is the sound of the fuel pump kicking on if you do not here that then it is fuel pump related, then check fuel pump fuse, relay or safty shut of swich. or you could have to replace the fuel fillter if you do here the sound out of the fuel tank.
low fuel pressure can be caused by fuel pump or pressure regulator. The regulator is on the upper side of the engine and looks like picture below. Check the vacuum hose all the way to see if it has a loose or broken connection. The regulator is much easier to replace that the pump, so I always recommend one replace the regulator before the pump. If you know someone that can check the fuel pressure before the regulator, you can actually determine which part is bad.
Sounds like the fuel pressure regulator. Check to be sure your fuel pump is pumping gas up to the fuel rails. You can usually hear the fuel pump kick on at the gas cap. I would change the fuel filter while you're at it. Just to be sure there's no trash caught within the filter.
check to see if your fuel pump is kicking on you should be able to hear it very faintly when you first turn the key to the on position just before starting. or get fuel pressure gauge hook up to inlet side of fuel line and turn over see what you pressure is anything less than 20 -30 psi and noone is home. time for fuel pump.
