Hi there,

Install a scan tool.
Start the engine.
Allow the engine to reach normal operating temperature.
Perform the following checks:
The A/C is Off, if equipped.
The gearshift control lever is set in Neutral or the manual selector lever is in Park.
The parking brake lever is fully engaged.
Connect an inductive timing light (2) to the number 1 ignition coil (1) wiring harness.
Select the Engine Output Controls feature under Special Functions of the scan tool Diagnostic menu.
TURN ON the Fixed Spark mode with the scan tool.
Observe that the Spark parameter on the scan tool data list displays 5 degrees , indicating that the Fixed Spark mode has been activated.
Inspect with the timing light (3) that the crankshaft pulley notch (2) lines up with the timing pointer (1), indicating that the timing is correctly set at 5 degrees .
If the timing marks are not correctly aligned, adjust the ignition timing as follows:
10.1. Loosen the camshaft position (CMP) sensor housing bolt (2).

Rotate the CMP sensor housing (1) clockwise in order to advance the timing.
Rotate the CMP sensor housing (1) counterclockwise in order to ****** the ignition timing.
10.2. Tighten the CMP sensor housing bolt (2).
10.3. Review the ignition timing with the timing light as in step 9.

Repeat step 11 if the timing marks are not correctly aligned. NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
Tighten the CMP sensor housing bolt (2) to the correct value. Tighten Tighten the CMP sensor housing bolt to 15 N.m (11 lb ft) .

Inspect with the timing light (3) that the crankshaft pulley mark (2) and the timing pointer (1) are still correctly aligned.
TURN OFF the Fixed Spark mode with the scan tool.
Observe the timing marks with the timing light.
The crankshaft pulley mark should now be approximately 13 mm (0.5 inch) to the left of the timing pointer, indicating normal operation.

Good Luck!!

Thanks

How to time the timimg belt for a 1995 labaron v6 conv put a new water pump in need to set the timimg belt how do i line it up

get the #1 piston top dead center, then line up the camshaft gear and the crank gear to line up with the timing marks on the engine after you find those marks slip the belt on making sure all the timing marks havent changed then check to see if the tensioner for the belt is set with the proper tension then check to see if the belt isnt slipping remember it will be spinnig at high RPMS

Lack of power and rough idle

Is your "check engine" or "service engine soon" light on? Lacking power is usually an emission system problem, for instance possibly a bad EGR valve or mass air flow senser. O2 sensers are common to fault but normally doesn't cause power loss usually causes alittle rough idle. Could even be a pluged catalic converter to. have the truck plugged into a scanner, that will tell you the trouble codes and fault info.
