Peugot 407 goes into gear but won.t move

need more information. does it feel like it wants to move or it does not want to do anything. is it a standard or automatic. all this is important. and automatic I would say check the trany fluid. if its a clutch. you could have a bad part. if it feels like it wants to go but wont. is the brakes on. does it make any bad noises when you give it gas. like something is grinding or slipping. all this information could help.

Chevy cavalier gear shifter

if it is s manual box remove the gear lever tower from the top of the box and see what damage was done to the bottom of lever and/or lever pivot pin in the tower. Remember normal gear boxes require a gentle shift to allow the syncro rings to work properly and if you want to do racing changes get yourself a specially built box.

1991 Hilux 2.8ltr diesel 5spd Man, stuck in 4th gear, won't budge, clutch still works.

Forth gear is when the input shaft is connected directly to the out put shaft by the sliding dog. 2 possible reasons 1 the pall that holds the selector shaft in position is jammed from possibly a broken spring ( remove the plug in the side/top of the box if you have one) or the connecting dog has broken a synchro ring and this is not allowing it to move back. It is possible that the inter connecting pin that prevents too shafts from moving at the same time is stuck as well.

Pickup starts great, goes into all gears but won't move. It's like it is still in nutural.

Assuming the pickup is an automatic, check the transmission fluid. The #1 cause for transmission slippage is lack of Automatic Transmission Fluid.

If the pickup is a standard shift, the pin that connects the shift to the transmission has likely broken. You would still be able to shift from the inside but the gears won't engage. A bad clutch is also a possibility but you would have noticed a burning smell prior to the clutch giving out.

I Need to top up my gearbox oil and I don't know where the filler part is on the gearbox.

Hello,
Are you referring to the front diff, rear diff or transfer case? On any of them gear boxes there is a fill plug and sometimes a drain plug. The fill plug is the plug closer to the top of the gear box. Just turn it out and wipe the metal shavings off it and fill the gearbox with the required gear lube until the lubricant just barely seeps out and that's the fill level. Plug the gear box again and your done. This is standard with gearboxes.
Regards, Tony

I installed a new clutch and cant get 5th or reverse.

remove gear stick and check its in properly, if you removed the gear shifter quadrant box bolted to top of gearbox you more than likely put it in while a gear was selected, remove and make sure gear box selectors are all lined up in nuetral then refit quadrant box and then gear lever.

How to remove an ECU from an Audi multitronic gearbox

1. Jack the car up on Axel stands/ramps or if you have access to a pitit will make life a little easier. 2. You need to remove the splash guard underneath the car so you can seethe back of the gear box. 3. Drain the gear box of oil which will require a special tool which youcan get for £10 from Draper Expert 1/2 Square Drive Drain Plug Key For VW Or Audi63476 Draper Hdpk1. 4. Remove the electronic cable that connects onto the ECU that protrudesout the back of the back of the gear box. 5. The back of the gearbox has 12 torques holding the cover in place.Once you have removed most of them you will need to remove the rear enginemount to get at the last torque bolt at the top of the gear box. 6. Support the gear box with a trolley jack so you can lower the gearboxto get at the last few torques. 7. The rear engine mount can be slid towards the back of the car so youcan get at the back of the gear box. There is a couple of other bolts that youwill need to remove that hold the ECU cable in place. 8. Once you have all the torques that hold the gearbox in place thecover can be slid off. 9. Once the cover is removed be careful not to bend the metal gasket asit can be used again as long as it's not damaged (Audi would probably changethis along with the ECU seal). 10. Once the cover is off you can now see the ECU which is held in placeby 3 torques or Star bolts. 11. After the 3 torques have been removed you can then slide the ECU offbut be careful not to bend or tilt it as you remove it from the gearbox as ithas guide rails made of plastic which can break easily.

I need to replace the rag joint at steering box of a 1976 Doge D100 truck. Can you give me any information on how to do it ?

first thing is to loosen the column mount at the fire wall inside where the column goes through the fire wall and also loosen the column support up next to the dash. so you can move the column up and down. at the rag joint remove the bolts that pass throught the leather dampner between the two pieces of metal one is clamped to the steering gear box shaft and the other is clamped to the steering column loosen the bolts that hold the pieces of the rag joint to the column and steering box. and remove each piece from the shafts. you may need a hammer depending on how rusty the are on the shafts. the steering gear box shaft is splined so when you install the new joint line up the splines so it will slip onto the shaft. a little WD40 sprayed on the shaft will help it slde on. then slide the column into the top part of the joint until it is seated. tighten the clamp nuts and torque to 40 ft Lbs each retighten the firewall clamp and the dash support and you are done.

How do i change the camshaft sensor on a 1999 daewoo nubira?

read all of this before you begin! you may be able to skip a step that i couldnt !no.you dont have to remove the timing belt but check it. i did this to my nubira like two months ago. the belt felt loose but i didnt change it and now my car is on the side of the road) remove breather box. remove spark plug cover(top of engine two allen screws).see cam pos sen. wire clip at front of engine facing down, dont try to remove yet. clips are at the top sides of timing belt cover. from under the car remove plastic covers where you may find them on the pulley side and passenger side wheel well. using socket wrench relieve tension on torsion wheel(smallest pulley your s-belt crosses) by pushing up. release s-belt and remove(you may want to draw a quick diagram of how your belt is ran before removing). now remove the bolts from the timing belt cover.(when i did this i was also changing my harmonic balancer or crank pulley,if it is in the way of bolts remove the four bolts with a allen wrench, loosen it with the s-belt still on and car in fifth gear if standard to keep crank from turning. next place a long board or plank under the engine (across trans-housing,oil pan, as little on the oil pan as possible . place a jack at the center of the board and gently raise the engine. this relieves pressure from the top engine mount. remove the engine mount entirely. remove all screws from timing belt cover. remove cover. you will see two camshft gears at the top of the engine just below them you will see one star head screw(can usually be removed with an alle n wrench). it hold the cam pos sensor in place, remove then pull sensor out the top of the motor. sometimes they're a little bit stuck down in there. just pry a little but dont pull on wires! once removed disconnect wire replace, and rebuild. hope this helps

Gear oil level

There is no way to see the level in the gear box. There should be a small plug somewhere on the top the the gear box. You will need a very small funnel to put in. If the gears are crunching or grinding then try putting a little in. Just stanard auto gear oil will do.
