Very carefully, there should be locks on top of injectors or you can pull injectors and rail all together

Testimonial: "I was thinking the fuel rail rail was on the left side of the engine since on the v8 it Is on the right, but I guess it is under the valve cover."

I'm removing my fuel rails on a V10 6.8 l 99 I unclipped all the fuel injector and coil plug connectors.

OH there are bolts on each side and pull up. If I remember correctly there not enough play to pull one side up without removing the bolts from the other side. Just remove all the hold-down bolts and pull up. You might need a helper to line up the injectors on the other side during installation.

if you need detailed step by step process, please click the link below and follow the instructions with diagrams.

I need to access the fuel injectors in my 98 wrangler, but i dont know how to get to them

FIRST NEED TO RELIEF FUEL PRESSURE REMOVE GAS CAP RELIEF GAS PRESSURE IN FUEL TANK.THEN REMOVE FUEL PUMP RELAY THEN START ENGINE UNTIL IT DIES LACK OF FUEL,CRANK ENGINE OVER FEW MORE TIMES MAKE SURE FUEL OUT OF FUEL LINES. THEN YOU NEED TO REMOVE AIR CLEANER CROSS OVER TUBE ABOVE FUEL RAILS. DISCONNECT LINES AT THE ENDS OF THE FUELS RAILS ASSEMBLY. MARK AND DISCONNECT THE FUEL INJECTOR WIRE HARNESS CONNECTORS. REMOVE THE FUEL RAIL RETAINING BOLTS, DISCONNECT THE VACUUM LINE FROM THE FUEL PRESSURE REGULATOR. REMOVE THE FUEL RAIL ASSEMBLY FROM THE ENGINE. IF YOU HAVE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION REMOVE THE THROTTLE PRESSURE CABLE AND BRACKET TO REMOVE THE FUEL RAIL ASSEMBLY.TO REMOVE FUEL INJECTORS JUST REMOVE CLIPS THAT RETAIN FUEL INJECTORS IN FUEL RAIL. BESURE GO TO DEALERSHIP BUY NEW FUEL INJECTORS O - RINGS.APPLY A SMALL AMOUNT OF ENGINE OIL TO THE O - RINGS TO AID IN INSTALLATION. TORQUE FUEL RAIL BOLTS TO 100 INCH LBS.

I need to replace the #2 fuel injector. Is this something a layman such as I can accomplish?

You could do it, but remember gasoline is flammable and volatile and can be hazardous to work with: REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION 1.9L Engines
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions in the beginning of this section.
  2. Properly relieve the fuel system pressure.
  3. Remove or disconnect the following:
    • Negative battery cable
    • Fuel rail
    • Fuel injector retaining clip off the injector
    • Fuel injector
    • Fuel injector O-rings and discard them Fig. 1: Fuel injector identification-1.9L engine 9306zg58.gif

I have fuel leaking from the fuel rail at the 2nd injector from the front. The leak seems to be coming from where the metal of the fuel rail conects to the plastic....

Maybe an O-ring is leaking. Try a new injector that comes with an o-ring to be sure it's not the injector itself.

How hard is it to replace a fuel injector?

Relieve the fuel pressure. Unplug the injector rail wire harness. Remove the two fuel rail mounting bolts and the small screw and clip that secure the lines to the exhaust camshaft housing. Pull strait out while wiggling the fuel rail. At the top of the injector, remove the clip and unplug the electric. Remove the clip on the bottom of the rail that holds the injector in. Pull the injector strait out. Check that the O-rings are still attached to the bottom of the injector and at the top. If not, CAREFULLY.. remove them from the holes that they were mounted in.
