You can have the coil and module tested at most auto parts stores. The module provides the ground signal to the coil. It could also be the pickup coil in the bottom of the distributor.
When you press on the gas when the truck is running, does it rev up?
Did it die while driving down the road (foot on the accelerator) or when idle? - If so, try cranking it and get your RPMs up to 1500-2000 RPMs and put it in drive (with your other foot on the brake). See if it will continue running if you never take your foot off the gas.
if it shuts off while driving and will not start back up for at least 10 minutes, then it may be the crank sensor doing this. is check engine light on! if so get it scanned to find problem code. if no scanner, auto-zone will scan for free. if light is on. CPS symtoms are: car dies and won't re-start till it cools down, or won't start
at all. good-day ! crank sensor timing will be out of sync. it controls timing and sends info to pcm.
Front transmission pump. For a Chevy S10 its located behind the torque convertor,This pump supplies the torque convertor and it service as a pressure supply system, Just because the pump is in the immediate area it does wear out and develops gaps and is unable to supply transmission fluid to the system. When the transmission warms up the fluid thins out.Sitting for 5 minutes allow the fluid to cool just enough to run again
P.sthis remind me of what happen to me I stuck on the side of the road ,half mile and took 2 hours to drive back
98 chev pickup s10 put gas in the gas tank drove it about 2days and the check engen light came on had it check mech said it was the gas cap replace the gas cap the light back on now what help
It may be the CRANK SENSOR ,i had a car one time,it started fine, and drove fine one day i drove it about15 miles, stopped ,got back in it, started it, drove about 5 miles ,and cuts of with a little hesitation,it cranks but does not run, i sit there for about 20 minutes, crank it, it starts back ,i drive it back another 15 miles ,and runs great ** the crank sensor gives the signal to the ECM if the ECM ,never get that signal ,it does n't know to crank the car,or what cylinder to start with, check with your saturn ealer ,and get a second opinon
Your going to have to get the ECM scaned, there are to many things that can cause that. most places like Auto Zone or Part Source can scan your S 10 free of charge and can also give a how to's if you want to replace the part your self.
Good luck and hope this helps
