The factory code for this key pad is located on the black security box. The location of this box is under the driverside dash behind and above the brake pedal. The code is imprinted on the black box on the right side. here is some pix.

I have a 2001 ford Taurus, car runs good when door locks work right but when door locks doesn't work, car doesn't run right and looses power going uphill

Do you know what a wiring diagram is ? Do you know how to use a DVOM - digital volt ohm meter ? How to do voltage drop testing ? Checking the compleat electrical circuit for the power door locks is the way to find out what your problem is . Videos on youtube showing how to do this the proper way . Looking at a wiring diagram I also see the GEM - generic electronic module is the control for power lock's . I suggest you watch this video as well Control Module Diagnostics with John Anello Mastering Voltage Drop Testing with Pete Meier and Jerry Truglia
Also you will need a factory scan tool or a professional grade , check for codes in the GEM . More then likely a lose connection , but code be a bad GEM module. Also could be a broke wire inside the rubber boot from the body to the door .

What is the procedure for programming the key pad on the door to unlock the car?

  1. Locate the permanent factory remote keyless entry code in your car's owner's manual or by contacting the dealership.
  2. Enter the factory code on the keypad and press the "1/2" button on the keypad within five seconds to start the programming sequence.
  3. Enter a new five-digit code into the keypad within five seconds.
  4. Wait for the locks to cycle once to confirm the new code was successfully programmed.

98 ford taurus wgn se door ajar light wont go out

The switches that activates the door ajar are located on the body frame. For front doors try looking between the hinges, on the frame of the body cavity. Might have a rubber grommet around it. On the back doors, look on the frame of the body cavity near the hinges.

1998 Ford Taurus - Keys don't work manually in door

I suspect someone changed the ignition switch and just used the key that came with it instead of having the switch repinned to the existing key. The key for the doors and ignition are the same from the factory.
You should look for the original keys or the plastic card with the key codes on it. The delaer can cut you a key just for the doors with this code. You don't need a key blank with the chip just to open the doors. Or go to the dealer, Ford or Mercury and ask them to get the codes from Ford using your VIN # (17 digit). Or, the sellimg dealer usually keeps them on file. Any dealer can tell you who the selling dealer was by using your VIN #, good luck
