Take the old one out and get the number off of it, or look in the owners manual, that should tell you what size.
Could be 1157, 1157L, or 1157LL.

I tried changing fuses myself because my left headlight and and right brake light just suddenly stop working now my battery will not stay charged, did i put fuses' in the wrong spot

Should have checked bulbs first. Follow the schematic in the cover of the fuses and check one by one for proper place and fuse size. Make sure all are good then see if this corrects problem. May need further checking.

Brake lights won't turn on.

Try replacing your brake light switch. Located at the bottom by your brake pedal.

The filaments likely broke in the newly replaced bulbs. Replace them with LED type replacements, if your local parts store does not carry them, they can be ordered from Digikey, http://www.digikey.com

That should remedy the problem.

License plate lights do not work. Bulbs changed still does not work. The right brake light does not work. Changed bulb and plug. Turning signals work, tail lights work. All works on the left side.

Well for the license plat you might wanna check the fuse. and the brake light if one works fine then I'm sure you need a new bulb in the other side. Good luck

My 1999 ford windstar has no brake lights and refuses to shift out of park. I checked the bulbs, they are good- I checked fuses 10,11,13 all good. Could it be the brake shift solenoid?

Check the brake switch on the lever above the brake pedal. It is really common for the wires to break at the connector. There should be power on one of the wires all the time and power on the other with the pedal pushed down.

As for the horn, inspect the fuse and relay and most common it would be a bad ground wire or worst a bad horn due to corrosion. Horn will be located in the drivers side fender.

Anyone know how to replace the third brake light on a 1999 windstar ?

Look on the inside of the liftgate and you'll spot a plastic trim panel/piece directly behind the High Mount brake light. Gently pry this piece off and you'll have access to the bulb and socket.
