To carlsbiz Many thanks for your reply I took the rotors back to the auto store and told them what is going on. Gave me another set of frt rotors. Problem of steering wheel vibration is gone. One of the rotors I returned obviously was defective out of the box.

You may need to re-machine those rotors as there is most likely excessive run out or warpage present causing the steering wheel to shimmy while braking. There is a limit on how much can be shaved off the rotors as these warp easier the thinner they get. I have seen replacement rotors with problems right out of the package. The only realistic way to check if one or both are wavy is to chalk them up on a lathe and see how much run out is present on the rotors.

What makes it shakes

Sounds like bad brake pulsation, meaning warped rotors. When rotors are warped , they push the caliper piston in and out ,causing the brake pedal to pulsate and shake the steering wheel. I would start with replacing the front pads and rotors, and if you have drum brakes in the rear, have those cleaned and adjusted for a more balanced braking system.

2005 chevy uplander. I put new rotors on the front along with new ceramic brake pads. The calipers have not been a problem so I did not replace them. After doing all of this I now have a heck of a shake...

did you clean the surface where the rotor sit. normaly a vibration while braking is rotor are out of line (pad touch and don't )wave rotor. But clean surface where the rotor sit and make sure the two pins of caliper slide freely. and very important tight wheels nuts to spec torque.

Steering wheel is shaking when I brake

The problem lies in the front rotors. If the steering wheel is shaking without braking, then we need to break this up. If it's low speed(1-15 mph) then you have a tire that is coming apart. Highway speeds, you need the wheels balanced. If it's only while braking then you need to have the brakes inspected. If pad replacemnet is required, go for it. When they address the rotors, DO NOT TURN THEM ON A CONVENTIONAL LATHE. Honda REQUIRES them to be either turned on the vehicle(on the car lathe) or replaced. Then it comes down to quality. Always replace with the higher quality parts on these. If you do not, the problem will occur again, and the sme is true if you turn the rotors off of the car.

My monte carlo shakes when i put on the brakes

Check for bent wheel bearing hub. Beyond that, have a runout test done on the rotors while on the vehicle.

Shake in front end

yes that is a very common feeling in warped rotors, if you feel the brake pedal the pulsing then you defintly have warped rotors, replace rotors and brake pads, never reuse pads when they have been in contact with a warped rotor, they will cause the new rotors to warp also
