The best I can tell you is, go to an auto parts store and get a haynes auto repair manual for that vehicle, it gives a step by step procedure on how to do it, About $16.00.

Replace a lower ball joint in 99 chey suburbàn

You will need a ball joint removal kit that can be borrowed from an Oreilly part store. It looks like a tuning fork. Take of the wheel. Remove the nut holding the ball joint in place and then put on the removal tool...probably the medium one. Using a hammer hit the end of the removal tool forcing the wedge in between the arm and the ball joint until it pops. Do not be afraid to swear and hit it as hard as you can.

Need to replace lower front ball joints on a 99 Acura TL. My personal mechanic wants me to get the ball joints from the Acura dealer--who wants $205 each and includes some kind of arm with the ball joint....

The ones from the dealer is a ball joint and the control arm which come together with the ball joint already press in one whole piece meaning less work to do. just a simple swap in swap out. The $40 from parts stores or parts source is just a ball joint itself which still needs to be press in which is more labor work.

My 99 GMC suburban 4&4, has this clunking noise in the front when I go over speed bumps, replaced shocks, but no help, any ideas?

Inspect rubber bushings in the suspension, it is at the age where they will start to wear out. Also inspect the ball joints, these can make a lot of noise when going out.

How to remove upper/ lower ball joints on 1990 GMC Suburban 4x4

hit the steering knuckle where the ball joint shaft goes through it while u have the wedge/pickle fork inserted, u do this on the round side of the knuckle, this is what is called a "Morse Taper" hitting it distorts the hole a little and that lets the joint pop free. You need at least a 5 pound ball pen for this to work..

99 dodge durango needs ball joints

Well if you get an alignment after you put the new ones in you should be alright. As far as these new ball joints they probably just come pre-pressed on the arms and if thats the case then you will have to mess with the coil springs in which case you will need a special tool and you will have to align it all just right or you will have problems later on, i would just stick with the unpressed ball joints also make sure u have something to press them with like a heavy duty vise or a press itself don't use a hammer cause this will damage them.

1997 gmc yucon 4X4 ball joint removal

Okay, more than likely you are going to need to take the upper and lower arms in to have the old joints pressed out and then pressed in. If you can buy the replacement joints and take them in, you will save a WHOLE lot of cash. You could also do this yourself if you have a hydraulic press or, if you can swing by an auto parts store that rents out tools......it looks like a modified c clamp.

Jack up the affected side and support vehicle on stands.

Remove nut that fastens onto affected ball joint;
Using a "pickle fork" (ball joint separator) hammer fork in between ball joint. Use at least a 5 Lbs. mallet to strike fork;38722d9.jpg
(Above: Blue wire is holding rotor assembly from flailing away after ball joint separation).

Using ball joint extractor, press out failed ball joint:

Then fit in new ball joint and reassemble rotor assembly.
