If the check engine light is on than the are trouble codes. I wouldmsuspect there is a lean or rich code.
I would unplug the MAF sensor and take it for a drive. If the symptom improves on the test drive replace the MAF sensor.
Sometimes the anti theft system will fail and turn off the starter. Look for a light like this on the dash. Here is a link to help if you see this light.
Check TPS for smooth and linear electrical response over the entire range of motion. If the response is jumpy or erratic at all, replace TPS. Thank you for using fixya and good luck.
try adjusting the throttle position switch very hard to adjust right car will hesitate , not idle properly and hesitate when accellerating if not adjusted properly.
the clicking sounds like the starter solenoid engaging & disengaging due to low voltage. Battery may have a short. Check voltage with engine off. Should be 12 volts. Engine running 14 volts.
It seems like you have a vacuum leak in a hose some where. Check under the hood for any rubber hoses that are dry-rotted, cracks, or sharp bends in any of them.
