Remove spark-plugs and check for coolant. After the car was last used the pressure in the coolant system could have allowed the coolant to leak into the cylinder. A failed head-gasket may have allowed coolant to leak into cylinder creating a hydro locked engine. If coolant present on spark-plug have garage look at engine to see if any mechanical damage has occurred. Replace head gasket.

If in doubt about locked engine do not attempt to crank. Cranking a locked up engine can cause additional damage.

It can happen. Usually caused from the oil being low or going low to many times. When it cools down, the bearing will seize on the crank shaft. Also seen the A/C compressor lock up and keep the engine from turning. Both can be checked.

Shift Lock Release This vehicle is equipped with a shift lock release system. If your vehicle has a dead battery and you need to have your vehicle towed, there is a shift lock release lever that will allow you to move the shift lever out of PARK (P). To access the shift lock release lever, do the following:
1. Press on the sides of the boot around the shift lever to release the boot.
2. Lift up the boot on the shift lever and you will see an orange lever.
3. Press the orange lever down and move the shift lever out of PARK (P).
4. Snap the shift lever boot back in place.

Shift button on a 2002 trailblazer won't engage

Shift Lock Release
This vehicle is equipped with a shift lock release system.
If your vehicle has a dead battery and you need to

2002 Oldsmobile Bravada. Transmission is Stuck in neutral but gear shift is in locked in Park position and cannot move it. Can start and turn off engine.

one of the known with the bravada-trailblazer-and envoy was the vinal/leather boot cover on the shifter getting jammed and your vehicle also has a park release lever under the boot as well https://www.manualslib.com/manual/654367/Oldsmobile-Bravada-2002.html?page=92 tells how to get out of park --check the trans cable and linkage for damage after releasing shifter

Gear lever stuck in park.

usually a cable that moves when pressing brake pedal that takes gear lever out of lock allowing you to move gear lever. check the cable.

My 2002 GMC Envoy SLT is backed up on an incline and is in park. I start the vehicle and can't get out of park. Envoy drove just fine before now. What could be the problem?

The pressure on the parking pawl in the transmission from the truck being parked on an incline is preventing the pawl from releasing. See if you can get another vehicle to push it a small amount so you can release it from Park position.

I have Envoy 2002 XL 4WD Transmission indicator stuck in D

I think the linkage came off the transmission. It is on the left side of the transmission, near the pan. There is a neutral safety switch that is used in that area. That's why the indicator is different than what the transmission is really in. The linkage arm may be worn and/or the shifter cable end is worn and will not stay on the linkage arm.

If your 2002 gmc envoy or sierra will not even turn over with a kown good battery try starting it in nuetral then go back to park and try starting again. There is a park nuetral safety switch that can malfunction. Turn the key on then shift into nuetral, then turn fully to start.
