Use ONLY exactly the same stock engine as is in it now. Try and install a different engine and you will have mega problems with the electronics.

Manual gearbox 03 Daewoo Lanos location of drain and fill points

Look over all vertical surfaces of the tranny - you're looking for a round plug with a square "hole" in it. You should find 2, with 1 of them a few inches higher than the other. A 3/8"drive ratchet will fit into the square hole - the lower plug being the drain and the higher plug being the fill. After draining, refill through upper plug hole until oil starts coming out of it, then re - install plug quickly.

I have a daewoo lanos 2000 and the timing belt broke and before that the car overheat and i just would like to know if there could be more problems i havet drive my car in 6 months.

When a timing belt breaks it is likely to cause engine damage. You will most likely need to replace the engine head. ($700-$1000 parts & labour))

Yes, there can be more problems! I've had the following -

(1) starter motor - this is easily replaced and is fairly cheap to get a 2nd hand one - approx $80 for the motor

(2) crank angle sensor & coil - approx $500 parts & labour

Is the gearbox on a 1998 daewoo lanos manual a sealed unit??

Just to confirm that the oil Fill plug to a Daewoo lano manual tansaxle is on the right hand side of the transaxle where the drive-shaft exits the gearbox housing.

You need to jack the car right up and use a torch

It takes 1.8L of oil

Removing a Matiz engine without the gearbox

Yes it can be done. I removed the battery and tray and gearbox mount only then was able to wriggle the motor out (after removing sarter, alternator, power steering and air con compressor). Also removing the plastic cover near the front pulley helped. Need small hands! Good luck!
