Question about 1997 Honda Accord

1 Answer

I Have a problem with an 1997 Honda Accord, giving a surging sensation when maintaining a steady accl. It has an automatic transmission, and initinally i thought it might be the torque converter slipping but that has all been scanned and tested fine. Its worse when its cold, and seems to dissapear under heavy accl. Im thinking maybe i should check the fuel filters, (in tank and under hood) but I hear this is a bit of a job, can anyone help!?

1997 Honda Accord 4 cylinder vtec P0715 - Input/Turbine Speed Sensor Circuit Malfunction  automatic transmission most of the time it don't want to go to the other gears stays in first gear

Sounds like your tansmission is in limp mode to protect itself.

you'll probably need to identify and correct the speed sensor problem (at the wheels or at the transmission sensor) before you'll be able to get it out of limp mode.

Jennifer,
The problem is in your transmission [automatic transmission] or clutch [standard transmission] Check the level of the fluid in an automatic transmission. Check for proper free play in the clutch of a manual transmission.

you should check out your shift fork when they bend they tend to heat up and get stuck for a bit they should be like $80 dollars but its not the usual DIY because transmission work is tricky i would suggest taking it to a specialized mechanic.

1997 accord lx hard shifting, what can i do?

If it's automatic, drain the trans fluid and clean the magnetic drain bolt. Remove and clean the screens on the two solenoids on the front of the transmission. Honda does NOT recommend flushing your transmission with any solvents. Refill to the correct level according to your owner's manual.

If it's a manual transmission, change your gear oil in the transmission according to your owner's manual and hope it's not your synchros.
