1995 nissan sentra automatic trasmission will not go into passing gear

Gear shifts happen depending on how far the gas pedal is
pressed & the load on the vehicle

Transmission pressures change as you drive under different conditions,so the shifts happen at different speeds

There is no passing gear

If you have a 4 speed, you have 3 forward gears & an overdrive
forward gear, plus torque converter lock-up

You saying you have no 4th to 3rd downshift or whatever

Maybe the transaxle is failing mechanically inside-worn out

I got p0420code on my 06 odessey is there any cheap way to fix the problem cuz im in tight budget right now

No there is not

First you have to diagnose & resolve what ruined
the exhaust converter & fix that first

You will need the exhaust converter & oxygen sensors
unless they are under 50,000 miles & the converter is
worn out & not over heated

You need to check fuel pressure, fuel trim, all data, all ignition
event that may have ruined the converter

So no expect to pay about $700.00 at least if you want the
car properly diagnosed & then ALL that needs to be done
properly repaired/replaced

There things just don't happen
It is purely driving an older car &
lack of knowledge that leads to a
problem, drive & never working on it

Torque convertor shudder going uphill in my 1992 Dodge Caravan, A604-transmission.

A TC shudder on a 604 is the first sign of the end. You may can get away with putting a torque converter in it , if you do it soon ( tomorrow). If it shudders going up hill it is most likely not the converter since the clutch is released under load. I would suspect and engine miss first.I am constantly dealing with vehicles that someone has diagnosed as a converter shudder and turns out to be something else , most the time just a bad coil or set of plug wires.

Cataltic converter is bad in my 02 galant GTZ

Your cataycric converter is in the exhaust train under the vehicle and nowhere near the front. Converters are no more expensive than a muffler these days. Go into a muffler shop and get e"er done. Bypassing may affect all other functions of the engine, so it's your call. Good Luck, Ned

I have gas coming out of my exhuast. and the car stutters

your car is running to rich for some reason.check all of your vaccum lines under the hood for leaks.the rubber vac lines turn hard after many years and crack causing intake leaks wich cause a rich mixture.also a bad mass airflow sensor can cause a rich mixture.in any case this problem must be fixed soon or your catylitic converter will overheat and it will be the next thing needing replaced--jaykra

96 Camry 4cyl. 111,000mi. CATALYTIC CONVERTER(manifold) failing

As long as the area you live in doesn't require emission testing, you don' need to fix it. It won't hurt anything. But you will have to stare at the light or put tape over it.
