Slow gear changes can be from several things , the most prominent being dirty oil and blocked filter
can be from low oil level
low oil pressure
faulty vacuum actuator ( vacuum line off)
problem TCM
problem servos and solenoids
the first two can be dealt with easily and a reading of fault codes will show up the rest

2007 Vauxhall astra auto still drives in park

Could be 1 of 2 problems
1. Automatic gear boxes use brake bands to slow the car down when changing down gear at reduced speed these also lock the gearbox when the selector is placed in park.
If the bands are worn then the car will creep when placed in park.
2. The selector electronics are faulty or need adjusting (this needs to be carried out by a tech machine at a garage).

Hope thais helps

BMW 523 Auto gerbox when cold change from 1 to 2 gear is hard

hello there

The problem is with the gear oil. To keep ahead of the rest BMW started what they call life time oil for their gear boxes, though that sounds great it doesn't really work in reality, they have now gone back to recommending a gear oil change every 60k miles.

In short you need to change your gear oil and soon, the oil in your gear box is no longer effective and will damage the gear box. You'll need about 5 litres for your car and costs around £15 a litre, expensive stuff!! I had the same problem with my 328i auto, the dealer was clueless and kept quoting the lifetime oil, I changed the oil and the problem has gone and it's so much smoother.

Hope this helps, please don't forget to rate me.

The auto gear not changing properly, but gets hook at gear 2

Have speed sensor and control module checked. Try not to run engine up to 5k it's not good for it. Can you shift manually through the gears?

Car not moving when changing from any gear into drive

change transmission fluid and filter. have your car scanned to see what the check engine light is telling you.you can take it to advance auto or auto zone. they will scan it for you .tell you what you need .usually when check engine comes on. you got a bad sensor.
