Question about 2001 Hyundai Elantra

Even when the car is warm (1994 chrysler 4dr v8), it will suddenly increase its rpm to the point where it needs to be kicked down again as if the auto choke reengages , even on a hot summer day

Because since 2-stroke engines run off a reed valve design with absolutely no mechanical valve train, the majority or the power comes from induction. the inlet air is at the perfect temperature two minutes after startup which results in the most power and RPM. check- Possibly the purge valve or switch

Maybe a sticking choke or binding throttle linkage. Have you lifted the aircleaner cover and looked down carb opening? Choke stuck?
Could be a simple idle speed adjustment also. What rpm's do consider to be high. Maybe some carb cleaner down the barrels and throttle linkage could free it up. Again, it could be a simple idle adjustment depending on RPM's it's turning.

scan the computer with a computer scanner just to see what it says. check your intake, I am thinking your mass air flow sensor is no good. it happened to my car where the rpm increases and decreases when the car is idle. Or it can be the IAC valve.

This mercury is a 1994 V8 equipped. It sputters and and backfires through the breather like it would if it had a carb. It does this for miles even after prior warm up.


I'm having the same problem it sputters and backfires between 0 and 30 then just kicks in and acts normal recently did tune up. Any suggestions? Mine is a 94 grand marquis with a 4.6l v8

Oil lite comes on at idel goes off when rpm increas


More than likely you need to add more oil, just when the car increase rpm the oil is mixed up and the oil light goes off. Let your car Warm up for about 5 mins and check the oil level. Add if needed.

This is all to common a post for your van, read it over and over again, there are class action law suits over this transmission having so many failures, if any money has been paid out i can't say, buy u will need to have the trans removed and torn down and overhauled to correct this problem
