spray down pump and hoses with degreaser and wash off. After its dry, use recomended fluid to fill. Start engine and turn steering wheel all the way left, and all the way right a couple of times. This will blead the air from the system. Now shut off and check fluid. Make sure it is full. Now drive the car down the road and make turns, and drive it back and check fluid level. If its still foamy and not leaking fluid, your pump ma be bad.
The pump may not be working as and is now under stress caused sometimes by the power steering pipes braking down on the inside of the pipe. You will have to replace the pump and check the pipes from the power steering pump.
if the rack and pinion was not leaking or causing problems. then he may of made a wrong move! if the rack was fine before, and you just lost power steering. then it is most likely the power steering pump or the lines that go from rack to the pump. good-day ! if a rack goes bad, you will get a bad steering problem or just bad steering.
You just need to purge the air out. Shut it off, top up reservoir, if possible raise front wheels. If not let fluid settle, turn wheel from side to side as much as possible. Start engine and turn from stop to stop 4-5 times. It will eventually subside and purge the air. Just make sure the pump doesn't run low on fluid.
seems like the pressure line to the rack&pinion is plugged.open the line at the rack see if fluid flows if not replace line if fluid flows then replace the rack.
When the pump heats up it will quit working cause the pump on the inside is not pumping fluid to the rack pinion or your racket pinion is going bad. Have you checked the fluid level?
Stay in the Car! LOL you have a problem with your power steering system. 1st Check your fluid level. 2nd check the belt. If you discover everything is ok, replace the power steering pump. That should fix it, however, if you still experience a problem, it will be in your rack and pinion. If you replace the rack and pinion you would want to change the pump anyway so no harm done. Good luck
