Question about 1997 Mazda MX-6

3 Answers

93 mazda mx6 wont run. will start but runs very rough and only for a few seconds. plugs are black and getting too much fuel. I replaced the fuel pump, fuel filter, fuel pressure regulator. I think the problem might be the throttle position sensor. but tps tests were inconclusive.

If yours is the v6 2.5 the tps is adjustable and you can turn it up and down. On my mazda it acted like it was in the fuel system and i ended up replacing the distributor.

Sounds like a vacume leak. Unmetered air is entering in through cracks somehwere on the intake acordian like tube.

If this doesn't work I would recommend looking at the timing, and possibly the injectors.

The tps may affect the idle, but not really the excessive fuel. check that your coil has enough spark, remove plug watch spark. otherwise check haul senders in distributor or check injectors are not leaking.

1995 Mazda mx6 v6 would not start. .When i turn the key and let it go then it pu,,pu, as if its trying to run

Try a squirt of starting fluid into the air intake before starting. If it then starts and runs for a few moments then can give you a good indication that fuel supply to the engine has been lost. After that is just a matter of determining if the tank is empty. Pump not working. Or injectors not supplying fuel to the combustion process. If still no start with the starting fluid then need to check and see if you have ignition spark to the plugs.

I have a 93 Mazda mx6 Ls... Everytime I step hard

When my MX6 was doing this it turned out to be an hydraulic leak from the clutch master cylinder, which runs on the same fluid reservoir as the brakes. Clutch master cylinder replaced and all good again!

Mazda mx6 1992 wont start and plugs getting very wet, prior to this problem was running fine. too much fuel getting in? plugs sparking ok.

Hi Mike,
Sounds to me as though you have one or more injector leaking. First advice is to check the oil in the sump. You may find that the fuel has leaked past the piston rings and contaminated the lubricating oil. Please make sure you check that out as when you replace the injector(s) and start up, if the oil is contaminated the engine may knock!

Mx6 not running right

there is an idle valve on the throttle body. it opens to keep a cold engine running, then closes when the engine warms up. if it sticks open, car will run good for a few seconds then stall the warmer it gets

1996 mazda mx6 ls cranks but won't start

you may need to run a wire from a keyed ignition source that has power while cranking and running to the fuel pump relay and bypass the pcm to test wether it will run, if it runs put a more permanent wire in place. Not too sure what tests youve done but it seems that fuel is what your focusing on so a quick test is too spray engine start up the intake tube to see if the engine trys to run if it does it eliminates a lot of other potential reasons for a no start condition. Also try squeezing the fuel return line to see if the added pressure will try to make engine run.Could be time to replace fuel pump etc anyway let me know how it goes good luck with it

Running rough

most likelly when your fuel pump gets hot it looses the pressure going to engine replace fuel filter and if this dont help then have the fuel pressure test done when problem is present
and if not good replace fuel pump
