Question about 1997 Mazda MX-6
If yours is the v6 2.5 the tps is adjustable and you can turn it up and down. On my mazda it acted like it was in the fuel system and i ended up replacing the distributor.

Sounds like a vacume leak. Unmetered air is entering in through cracks somehwere on the intake acordian like tube.
If this doesn't work I would recommend looking at the timing, and possibly the injectors.

The tps may affect the idle, but not really the excessive fuel. check that your coil has enough spark, remove plug watch spark. otherwise check haul senders in distributor or check injectors are not leaking.
