You can do it in the car, but you'll find it 300% easier to do if you pull it out. You're back will thank you too.

2002 3.3 timing chain inspection

top and bottom will be tight but you need to check the chain guides and the chain tensioner. To properly inspect you may have to remove an inspection hole in the cover or remove the timing cover altogether

Does 2003 Chevy ecotech motor have a timing belt or chain

It has a timing chain and a balance shaft chain also. My 2003 Cavalier jumped time about 2 months ago and that is what it had in it.

2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee timing belt/chain replacement (not 4WD)

I BELIEVE THAT IT HAS A TIMING CHAIN. IT SHOULD BE CHANGED AT OR ABOUT 100,000 MILE. BUT IT DOESN'T NECESSARILY NEED TO BE CHANGED THEN, JUST INSPECTED.

Does a 2003 pontiac grand am have a timing belt or chain and if so when is it supposed to be replaced

well, there a few ways to look at this. Yes it has a timing chain/belt. Most people replace them when they break, or if there is another reason to have work done in and around the timing cover, such as a gasket leak or, on your car, the hydraulic tensioner adjusted too tight from the factory.

After research, apparently these cars have had reported problems (ecotech 2.2 L4 motor.), but no help from GM.

Manufacturers suggest to change it at a certain interval/mileage, usually 60k.
