Why is the passenger airbag light on?

The red airbag light stayed on until I found and connected the connector under the passenger seat. Now the passenger airbag light stays on.

Could be a problem with the sensor in the seat. The system thinks someone is sitting in the seat and the seat belt is not fastened.

SOURCE: airbag light goes off when passanger seat in use, & on when not

even with exchanging the sensor the calibration could be off. without pulling codes from the airbag system it would be hard to guess for sure but id say you need to have the dealership do a recalibration on the seat

the computer knows that input data from a system has a problem,so disconnecting the battery will not help.
that is the procedure for working on it so that the airbags do not deploy.
a code scanner will tell you which part of the system, including a seatbelt latch, tensioner, or seat position sensor is defective.

Testimonial: "thank you for your help , but i was trying to avoid paying to the " scanner ""

Airbag light on 2001 sonata, also small modular under pasanger seat broken cover, and under driver seat there is a wonnector that does'nt go anywhere. thank's

First the airbag system can be dangerous to work on and it is usually best to consult a professional since to accidental inflation of an airbag can cause injury, do not cut any wires and disconnect the battery when working on the system.
When the airbag light is on it disables the airbag system inmost vehicles meaning if there is a collision the airbags will not deploy. Some autoparts stores can check codes which is where to start with the warning light on and modular connected check the airbag trouble codes with this information it will be easier to diagnose the system and the cause of your problem. I hope this helps

Airbag light staying on BA Fairmont

Poor connection on yellow connector under a seat causes problem. If blinks two times x 9= driver side problem if two+tree times = passenger side .This connector supplies power to airbag installed in a seat . Try first to move connector or pull wires gently to gain contact . If on another restart works fine you solved it but it wont last because wire contacts are loose . Use imagination how to gain permanent contact! i have used soldering method after a few times had to take seat out. Problem is if more than one driver drives a car and seat adjustment is needed regularly.
Hope it helped to someone...

2000 taurus airbag light blinks 3 then 7

your airbag light blinks 3 then 7 That means the airbag module has loss connection to the passenger airbag. Take a look under the passenger seat for a 2-wire connector (sometimes white tipped) and make sure it's plugged in tight.

If it is the passenger side, do you have some thing on your passenger seat? is it the air bag off light.

There is a connector under the seat. pusher it together to see if it is loose.

Srs warning light on

Here's a quick check list for most common cost of SRS / Air bag problem.

Dirty contacts on driver and passenger seat belt buckles

Dirty contacts on seat belt connectors (under seats)

Dirty contacts on driver and passenger sides weight sensors (under seat)

Seat covers

Weight on passenger seat

(Example: grocery package trigger SRS / Air Bag light on the way home.)

I recommend you to pass an vacuum over the contacts and use CRC electronic parts cleaner to rule out connectivity2_bing.gif problem.

I DO NOT disconnecting the negative battery connector to clean the code(s)

Without the code(s) the dealer will takes "BILLABLE" time to reproduce the problem.

The airbag light came on and stayed on for no reason.

I have the same issue (which comes and goes often).
It is caused by a loose wire connection, used for the drivers side airbag located in the seat.. The connector for mine is located under the front drivers seat. There are a couple of connectors that are connected to a bar under the front of the seat. I don't recall which one is used for the Airbag sensor.
