A temp blend door or a clogged heater core can also cause this.

Could just be low on coolant/water...next would be a stuck thermostat...both small repairs...hope this helps.

SOURCE: 2002 saturn heater

The problem is the blower motor speed control resistor, it is located near the blower motor in the housing.

does it blow out white smoke?  If so it might be a head gasket issue.  I know mercury sables were infamous for head gaskets.

SOURCE: FAN DOES NOT BLOW AIR OUT ON LOWER SETTINGS ONLY ON HIGH

Need a new blower motor resistor. Check under hood on firewall, on passenger side under cowl, behind strut tower area is usual spot. If not may be on housing/ducting under dash on passenger side near blower motor.

SOURCE: Why does my 2001 Mercury Sable climate control only blow heat?

It could be the door that should be shuting off the heater core area is not shuting. The door works with engine vaccuum. The vac. comes from the intake manifold. With your car being a few years old, the heat from the engine may have caused the vac. hose to dry out and crack or become disconnected. With the engine cold and off, look under the hood. A small size vaccuum hose should be connected to the intake manifold and run inside the cabin area. This is one thing you can check. I hope this helps you.

My keyless remote for my mercury sable 2001 just stopped working. I changed the battery, but it won't work. Is there a fuse/connection ( less expensive ) that I could try ?

It will not make the car not heat unless you have an electronic climate control but it will make the blower that blows the heat not force the air into the car and you will only get air blowing when the car is moving. Check fuses first (refer to manual if your not sure where they are) and then make sure your blower (the fan) is working when you turn it on low/med/hi etc.

Need to know where the fuse is for the fan by the radiator. I know where the fuse box is at because mercury sable has 2 boxes. Which one contains the fan fuse. My fan is not working and been replaced and...

You have a relay there are 2 speeds low speed and high speed this is controled by a cooling fan module if you changed fan and it does not work then you will need to check the fan module, first the relay its in the engine fuse junction box High speed is marked on the relay C1056 and low marked C1058, here is what you can do go to the high spped relay open thhe cover and expose the relay with key on collapse the relay does the fan come on? if it doesnt replace the fan module if it does you will still have to replace the fan module here is the location is at the radiator on the front (may be under shroud)

Air conditioner fan just stopped blowing

Check your fuses first. Then if you have no fan in A/C or heat it sounds like a blower control switch is bad.

Climate control A/C occaisonally cuts out

It may be low on Freon. You need gauges to tell. There are some cans which come with a gauge. The A/C system is suppose to cut off under heavy accelleration to give you all the power you need. The pause after can show low Freon.
The system is designed to operate in the middle range. You have a low side cutout switch and a high side cutout switch. You want to fill the system to operate in the optimum range which your gauges will show.
Its different pressures for different car companies.
The air out of the dash vent should be around 34 to 42 degrees..
