Won't start, tail pipe fell off and service engine light is on, Could it be the o2 sensor?

USA car others outside had more engines,
we can not guess, country engine or VIN
sorry, no can do.
all cars with v6 or v8 have
3 or 4 sensors.(O2)
one on each cat front (2) 1 per bank,
B1S1, B2S1, those are called.
and 1 rear in Y pipe (yes" or 2 rear(no).
the 1or2 rear are not used to tune injection mixtures, the rear or for CAT tests only.
my guess is ,this, USA spec, EPA allowed engine. got AWD?

Trying to make sense of the question: the diagnosticians seem to be saying there''s an obstruction or leakage or something amiss in the exhaust system, quite likely related to the catalytic coverter(s). The main electrical signal involving exhaust (manifold) and cat and ECU (computer) would be the O2 sensor or heated O2 sensor. A "confused" signal from O2 sensor to ECU could cause it to signal a Check Engine message--perhaps a sluggish O2 sensor. That sensor generally controls EGR (exhaust gas recurculation) fuel return to fuel intake, and could be malfunctioning without obvious performance degradation. Since your "engine management" message seem to be suggesting an emissions control fault, the items referred to above seem like likely candidates as the problem. It should not be ignored even with driver acceptable, nominal engine performance because exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) control is also associated with fuel mixture control...which, if not corrected, shows up as too high nitrogen oxides out the tail pipe; and otherwise as rapid destuction of the expensive catalyitic converter(s).
Depending on how long since last O2 sensor replacement (say, over 5 years to never) DIY changing to that sensor could prove a cheap way to clear the problem. Even if not, you now have an assured sensor without spending too much or more than you will eventually spend anyway. The rest of the problem is generally not owner servicable.

Which o2 sensor did you replace? on 1996 and newer vehicles there are two o2 sensors: the upstream o2 sensor, which is before the catalytic convertor and moniters the air/fuel ratio in the exhaust. the downstream o2 sensor, which is after the catalytic convertor and moniters the exhaust emissions coming out of the convertor. you should have an error code that will tell you which o2 sensor is faulty, sensor 1 (upstream) or sensor 2 (downstream).

Replaced the Idle Air Control?

The oxygen sensor won't stop it from cranking or starting

Check for spark or injector pulse when cranking

Check fuel pressure at the motor shrader valve with a gauge

Really,come on, No ---- the tail pipe wouldn't have anything to do with stalling.

If there were exhaust leaks before the O2 Sensor it wouldn't help any

put it up on a lift, find the catalytic converter. it is a big bulbous thing in the exhaust pipe under the passenger compartment. follow it towards the tail pipe.when you see something as big as your thumb screwed into the pipe with wires coming from it, that is your downstream O2 sensor. now go and follow the pipe coming out of the other end of the catalytic converter towards the engine. again you will eventually find a thing as big as your thumb screwed into the pipe with wires coming from it. that is the upstream O2 sensor. it may well be screwed into the exhaust manifold, but it is there.

to replace it you unplug the wires, put a very long wrench on it and unscrew it. replace in reverse order.
myself i always take it to a local muffler shop, not a chain, and pay them 20 bucks to do this as i do not have a lift and i always do both at the same time. bearing in mind that i just paid them to replace a part i do not bellyache to them if my service engine soon light does not go off.

There are two O2 sensors. One in the Y pipe where it connects to the exhaust pipe and the second one is in the exhaust pipe between the catalytic converter and the muffler. There a hundred things that will cause the service engine soon light to come on. A problem with the O2 sensor is just one of them.

sounds like it running to rich of a fuel mixture, the first thing i would do is replace the oxygen sensor and also make sure its not misfiring an any cylinder, start there, hope this helps.

It is not a carb code as your vehicle has not carburetor. It is an OBD2 ECU code. What is means is that you have an O2 sensor heater circuit malfunction (Bank 2 Sensor 1). In your case I would recommend you inspect all the wiring going to that O2 sensor. If you find no problems then I suggest you replace the O2 sensor. The sensor to replace is on the passenger side, the sensor closest to the engine. This will more than likely fix your problem. After replacing the sensor reset the Check Engine Light. If the problem comes back then seek professional help and do not replace any other parts.
