I was at a light and the transmission jerked alittle and acted like it was in nuetral ,would not go into gear, later that day after pulling it home,it started working for a little while and did the same thing over again ,its always worked fine and never slipped or skiped. but we did have a battery leak all over the transmission.

The battery leak should not be a problem. Is the transmission fluid level correct? When the transmission stops going forward, do you still have reverse and able to back up?
Let me know.

If both the forward and reverse gears are not functioning accompanied by the grinding noise would indicate a final drive output gear or drive hub failure. The transmission will have to be removed and the components replaced.

Sorry for the bad news, I had hoped it would been simpler.

    Good luck.

    Best regards,

Transmission wont pull in forward gears only reverse, just installed it because other transmission did same thing

Not sure for 98s. But you need to erase the codes to start. If the problem is still there, Check the wiring to the transmission. You need electrical diagrams.

My car jerks going down the road its a 95 Buick century and it changes gears fine when I take off just stares jerking a few days ago

When you say it "jerks," this description could fit several actual symptoms. If by "jerks" you mean the engine misfires, it could be caused by the need for a major tune-up (including plug wires and distributor cap), or it could be a problem with fuel delivery, contaminated fuel, or defective components in the fuel system.
I assume the CHECK ENGINE light is on (and has probably been illuminated for some time now). Begin by doing a readout of the stored codes, and use the results to begin your diagnosis.
If by "jerks" you mean the transmission is slipping (engine revs but car slows down or doesn't accelerate), you have a transmission issue. If the transmission fluid and strainer/filter have not been replaced within the past 5 years or 50,000 miles, have a complete transmission service performed.
If by "jerks" you mean that the steering wheel wobbles or pulls, you have a problem with the front suspension.
If by "jerks" you mean that the car shudders or pulls when you apply the brakes, you need brake work.
I think I covered all of the "jerks." ;)

2007 GMC Acadia

The first thing I would want to know is where the fluid is going.
If the transmission has an electrical problem with a sensor or solenoid, you should have a check engine light with a trouble code.

94 mitsubishi diamante station wagon (possible transmission problems)

The best thing to do is check the transmission fluid, vehicle in park engine warm and at operating temperature, check the transmission fluid, at the transmission dipstick,if you are in the marked range the fluid is not the problem if the fluid is dark almost black(which should be very red) then the transmission is burnt, which a replaced transmission is the solution,

Toyota celica transmission all gears act like neutral, won't shift

This is a failed transmission, only careful diagnosis and testing can determine the exact cause of the failure, but the transmission will need to be pulled to repair in almost 99% of this particular symptoms cases. Most transmission shops will do a preliminary diagnosis for free. Aamco is one such shop.
