Question about 2001 Oldsmobile Intrigue

1 Answer

My 2001 Olds Intrigue had white smoke coming from tailpipe. When bad fuel injector installed, gasoline poured out the tailpipe and stopped when injector blocked off. Now it "misses" and will not run unless engine warmed up for at least 10 minutes.

These cars have what they call dis system. connected to the computer is an e.s.t. sensor, this controls the injectors an spark going to the plugs. the e.s.t reads a magnetic signal from the camshaft. A bad e.s.t. sensor can cause tons of problems. they are a lot cheaper to replace than injectors.

fuel injectors. they are most likely pouring fuel into the cylinders instead of spraying a fine mist.

I have a 1995 jeep grand Cherokee Laredo. it shows trouble code for fuel injector. I replaced injector, but still shows code for injector and is still misfiring. it also has either blue or white smoke

Now you go to a shop & have the vehicle properly
diagnosed, to find a problem & then either you or the
shop can solve it

Now you found out that codes have nothing to do
with installing parts

First you check for codes

Then look at all data & road test, for various reasons

Using the data, you component test to find a problem

You resolve or fix those problems, as you find them & continue on

Lots of white smoke may be coolant & a head gasket

White smoke only on start up, is way too much fuel & your injector
& possibly other issues as well

with the smoke and smell i'd think the catalytic convertor/exhaust system is getting blocked .Get a fuel addative that covers the cat convertor as well as the valves etc , should clean out the system , might have to do two treatments , follow the manufactureres instructions

I have an 01 Impala 3.8 engine. At first start-up white smoke is seen, smells like raw gas, and tail pipe is black as coal. Fuel milage isn't good either. Would the regulator be bad?

White smoke from tailpipe, running poorly.

Blown head gasket for sure if its a petrol engine.

If its diesel then its overfuelling.

Gas pouring from tailpipe

Make sure you use OEM Injectors. The white smoke might come at a 3.5 from a bad gasket bewteen the intake manifold and the throttle boy or if you have the 3.8 from bad gaskets between the intake manifold and the engine.

Heap of white smoke on startup but not always

White smoke usually occurs when there is not enough heat to burn the fuel. The unburned fuel particles go out the tailpipe and typically produce a rich fuel smell. It's not unusual to see white smoke in the exhaust during cold weather until the engine warms up.

Faulty glow plugs or control module can cause white smoke on engine start up.

Low engine cranking speed may also produce white smoke.

If white smoke is still visible after the engine has warmed up, the engine may have one or more bad injectors, retarded injection timing or a worn injection pump.

Low compression or air in the fuel system can also be a source of white smoke.
