Your looking around $650.00 to $800.00. It all depends on the amount of time and any other complications like corroded fuel lines that may need to be replaced also. The cost of the fuel pump will also be a factor, best thing to do is call around and find a gas tank shop that specializes on gas tank replacement. There price would be the best, since that is what they specialize in. Good luck and hope this helps.

My friend has a 2007 Suzuki forenza, she ran out of gas and filled IT up now it won't start.please can somebody help.

I believe that vehicle has a tank mounted fuel pump with a sock. The fuel filter should be mounted on the driver side frame rail inside, close to the driver seat.
I suspect she either has a plugged fuel filter and / or sock. Running it out of gas allowed the system to suck the contaminants and chunks into the sock or fuel filter - most likely both. That vehicle has fuel injection, which has a high pressure fuels system. Changing the filter usually isn't too hard, but replacing that sock is very labor intensive. I recommend changing the fuel filter and see it that fixes it -but, ideally, replacement of the sock should be done too. If you decide to change the filter, I can give you better detailed instructions and warnings on the job, as it is not so labor intensive but can be dangerous if you don't take proper precautions to protect yourself from spraying gasoline.
Hope this helps!!

Why won't my 2001 Alero (2.4) start?

The most likely causes on the Alero are either a clogged fuel filter (which should be replaced every 30,000 miles in order to avoid damage to the fuel pump), or a weak or bad fuel pump. I'd start with replacing the fuel pump since it's the cheapest fix, the part costs about $20 at the Auto Parts Store. Here's a link to the fuel filter location and replacement:

http://wiki.answers.com/Q/Where_is_the_fuel_filter_located_and_how_do_you_replace_it_on_a_2001_Oldsmobile_Alero

The fuel pump replacement is more work and more money. The part costs between $100 and $150 to buy nif your a DIY, or about $650 for parts & labor at a repair shop. The fuel pump is located inside the gas tank, so the gas tank will need to be dropped if the pump is to be replaced.

Gas odor

Unfortunately I don't think there are any easy quick fixes, I would take into a mechanic ASAP and have the fuel lines inspected. Gas doesn't ignite that easily but fuel vapor does

How much does it cost to replace the fuel pump

That all depends on who is changing the pump and where you are going to get your parts from.
Are you planning on purchasing your own parts and replacing the fuel pump yourself? or are you planning on having a shop supply parts and labor?
If you are planning to have a shop do it, the best way to get a price is to contact the shop that you plan to go to. Labor rates can vary considerably from one shop to another. Parts prices can vary considerably too. Some shops may have a 40% mark-up and some can have as high as 80% mark-up on the parts.

Then there is the question of if you are planning to disassemble the fuel pump module and replace just the fuel pump or are you going to replace the entire fuel pump module assembly? Both ways are available for your Windstar (with some vehicles, you have no choice). The fuel pump costs less than half of the price of a module assembly. However, most shops will not honor any warranty if you do not replace the entire module (as well as also install a new fuel filter).

So, I can't really give you a total price because there are too many variables involved. However, I can give you the information below that you can use to compare and make sure that you are not getting ripped off...

Parts Cost (AutoZone.com)
Fuel Pump Module Assembly $212.00
Fuel Filter $10.99
Standard Labor Time Required
Replace Fuel Pump 2.1 Hours
Replace Fuel Filter 0.6 Hours

How much can i expect to pay to have a fuel level sensor replaced in 2006 xterra

To replace the fuel pump calls for 2 hours of labor time.

So about 160 dollars (depending on labor time) plus cost of the part plus the shop supply fee.

Fuel pump

i have a 95 thunderbird and i can tell you that the fuel pump is probably the most labor intensive on any vehicle since you have to remove the driveshaft and exhaust to remove the fuel tank. a shop will probably charge you $500 to $1000 to replace it.

2001 Hyundai Santa Fe Error codes BB1,BB2,BB3, BBevap,BBsolenoid. Check engine light is on.

EVAP system is a very COMPLEX system. There is not enough time or space here to adequately diagnose your problem. Components involved are Canister Close Valve, Charcoal Canister, Canister Filter, Purge Contro Solenoid Valve, Fuel Tank Pressure Sensor, EVAP tubes & hoses, Fuel Pump Gasket, fuel tank itself, check valves, Electrical Wiring to and from the ECM and components. Best solution: Pay diagnistic fee and have professionals diagnose problem. This way you'll know EXACTLY what the problem is and what's required to fix it (parts, labor, tax, time-frame, etc.).

Fuel pump

Fuel pump in in the fuel tank. What do you want to know about the fuel pump? Tell you what, Take/tow the vehicle into a Hyundai Service Center (dealership), pay the diagnostic fee. They will tell you EXACTLY what the problem is and what's needed to fix it (parts, labor, tax, time-frame, etc.).
