Question about 1998 Volkswagen Golf
Electrical problem. On an intermittent basis the ac and windshield wipers will not work. all other electrical is o.k. when this condition exists the emergency brake light on the dash will glow. If you engage the brake the light comes to full strength. when the gremlin leaves the faint brake light goes away as well. this is my nieces car and she tells me this has been developing over time. she had some ac work of some description done about a year ago. she has noticed damp carpet on passenger side ever since. if the drainage for condensation is compromised could this lead to some moisture getting into the wiring at some point and causing an issue.
THE WATER GETTING INTO THE CAR IS MOST LIKELY THE ISSUE HERE, BUT DON'T ASSUME IT IS CONDENSATE, CHECK THE DRAIN, IF IT OK THEN THE PROBLEM MAY BE THE WINDSHIELD OR A BODY SEAM, PULL THE TRIM PANEL UNDER THE DASH AND LOOK FOR WET CONNECTORS OR SIGNS OF WATER INTRUSION INTO THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, I WILL BET THAT IS WHERE YOU WILL FIND THE PROBLEM
