Exact Same Problem, RADIO CODE NEEDED for 1990 Honda Civic

I called the number below, however it seems that the only way to retrieve the code is to have the radio removed, which I was told costs $45...

Is there any way to do it oneself? I paid $50 for the car, so... I wish I could just get the radio working for free :)

I have a problem with my honda civic years 2006...i need a code for my radio please help me

Hi the radio code is different for every car. If you go to the honda dealer they will ask you for proof
of ownership and then supply you with the code for your car ( usually a small fee )
I hope this will help you.

Code for radio/cd honda civic 2003

Try to locate the unique code number that will unlock the theft-protected audio system on your 2003 Honda Civic. It probably was imprinted on an anti-theft identification card that you should have received when you acquired the car. The code was printed on a document that came with your owner's manual packet

If you do not have the code, you will need to track down the audio system's serial number. In the case of the 2003 Honda Civic, finding the serial number may require seeking assistance from a Honda dealer. The dealer should be able to determine the audio system's special code number so you can reset the radio. With some newer Honda Civic models, the serial number can be retrieved electronically from the radio.

If you are able to locate the serial number of your 2003 Honda Civic's audio system without a dealer's assistance, you can obtain the special code by going online to the Honda Web site. You must first provide specific information to prove you own the car. For instance, you will need the Civic's vehicle identification number, or VIN, and the audio system's serial number.

When you know what the audio system's special code number is, use the preset buttons on the car radio to punch in the digits. This should reset the audio system, enabling you to resume using the radio and the CD player.

I found the digit number now i need the 5 digit code to unlock it please! on 2002 honda civic si

You're talking about the radio, right? Look in your owners manual, sometimes the previous owner wrote it down-also, look in the glove box, for a sticker-I once found it on a sticker ON THE RADIO when I removed it.

lots of good information here:

I need a radio code for a 1990 Honda. I believe it's a civic or accord. I would think the code is the same for both models

No the code is not the same for both models. It is not even the same for 2 different Cicic's made the same year. The code is not specific to a model but to the radio. The code in one Accord or Civic will not work in another. Therefore, no one code will work in all Civic's. You must have the code for the radio in your Civic. The easiest and cheapest way to get the code is to go to the Honda website and sign up on the owner's link. There with the VIN # off your car you can get the code. You local dealer may also have the code stored in their computer system. It is a 5 digit code. If you have attempted to guess and the radio displays LOCK, then disconnect the battery for 30 minutes and the radio will reset and allow you to enter the code again.

If an audio unit with theft protection is disconnected from electrical power, you must enter a unique code number into the unit or it will not work. This code and the audio unit’s serial number are listed on the anti-theft ID card that comes with the vehicle. If this card is lost, you must obtain the audio unit serial number in order to get the radio code. Some newer vehicles allow you to retrieve the audio unit serial number electronically from the radio. Refer to your owner’s manual for the specific procedure. Some older vehicles (model year 2003 and older) require a visit to the dealer in order to retrieve the audio unit serial number. Once you have the audio unit serial number, you can call Auto Customer Service at (800) 999-1009 or have the dealer look up the radio code.
