04 mitsubishi outlander ac is not working - 2004 Mitsubishi Outlander

You don not give enough info. Is the fan working, but not cooling? If so, the system must have a leak, which needs to be checked and then new gas has to be charged into it. If the AC does not turn on at all, check the fuse. Otherwise, you must take it to the shop to check relays or the thermostas under the dash.

What to you mean not working?

a) Air blows but is not cool.
If this is the case, suspect refrigerant leak. Do not operate AC untill it is checked fully. Operating AC with freon leak may lead to compressor failure and expensive replacement.

b) No air blows at all.
If this is the case, suspect blown fuse or burned blower motor. Sometimes is just a fuse or may have a malfunctioning resistor (blower motor works only at full speed).

I have an '04 Outlander and the wires on the manual shift switch are:

Black - top
Blue - center
Red - bottom

I used small heat shrink tubing on each solder joint to provide better mechanical support and prevent future breaking.

Squeaky car

wmashfordhol please contact me via email. I would like to learn more about your sqeeking. My wife has a '04 Outlander with 67kmi which has the same squeeking in the rear. But the squeeking is more evident in lateral movement as opposed to up or down. I believe these cars have sway bars in the rear, so maybe there is a chance that that the bushings for this are worn.

At what mileage should I change the timing belt on a 2004 Mitsubishi Outlander. Thanks Sherry

It is suggested by any mechcanic to perform this maintenace every 80,000 miles if you properbly maintain your vehicle. That mean going by the owners manual suggestions. Also I would highly recomend changing the water pum as well for it runs off this belt and water pumps only last as long as the belt will also. If a new belt is installed without a new water pump it may fail in no time. I seen it happen more than a dozen times in the past ten years
