Question about 2001 Mercury Sable
My 2002 sable shakes and sounds like its going to stall when it is stopped, but when it drives it is ok. I can smell gas when it's about to stall. mechanics say it is my MAS sensor, DPSE sensor, and EGR valve. Does this sound correct. I have already replaced the spark plug wires and one mechanic said it was a hose with a hole in it. I just an tired of spending lots of $.
Hi I am Vortash this sounds to me like a fault called Pre ignition , this is a result of carbon build up on the top of the head ( cylinders ) and as it cools the petrol fumes still in the system ignite and run the car on .. This can cause severe head damage as the car runs out of timing order and can impact the valves , a shot of red ex treatment should cure it in the petrol otherwise you will need to have the head removed and de coked before you get serious damage .. regards Vortash
