Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

SOURCE: won't go into gear to drive. may be transmission?

If the clutch has never been changed most likely it is that. The way you can check it is by removing the transmission and looking at the clutch disc. It could be transmission syncros but I am willing to bet you just need a new clutch.

SOURCE: check engine light on car dies when I touch brake

Check Engine light is on. Find out what DTC (diagnostic trouble code) is set and I can help you more. You can get a code puller from your local parts store.

SOURCE: gears have to be changed manually

check to see if your shift cable, (depending on how old your car is) is broken or not. the shift cable should be attach your throttle plate to your transmission. if your throttle plate lever has nobs that dont have cables connected to them that should be a worry too. pull on the metal of the cables (not the sleeve) to see if any are loose or pop out. replace those that are broken if need be.

If your car is a fly-by-wire (meaning no mechanical connection between your throttle and transmission) i really would not be able to know without being there. but you could check to see if you have any pinched, corroded, or broken wires coming off of your throttle plate or off of your transmission. if there is then that is probably your problem. keep me updated and i hope this helps! goodluck with it.

SOURCE: gear shift wont shift into any gears, transmission

Most likely the shift cable is bad. To be sure, have someone move the shifter back and forth while you watch the transmission linkage
if there is little or no movement the cable is bad or it's disconnected
from the shifter. Hope this helps.

2005 Amanti. Where is the neutral safety switch?

I have no idea what an Amanti is, but for column shifted cars, NSS is usually on bottom of steering column, on the top. For console shifted cars, the switch can be inside the console. Some cars have the switch mounted on the side of the transmission. If you buy a cheap shop manual (highly recommended) it should tell you all about this.

My 2005 Kia Amanti. While driving at highway speeds, the car suddenly shutters for a second or two as if the transmission is slipping or there is a problem with constant velocity joints if this has them....

If your automatic car is jerking while changing gears, you have a maintenance rather than an operation problem. Check the transmission fluid levels. If that doesn't help, something could wrong with your transmission itself.
First I suggest scanned the PCM and TCM to know if some fault code is stored there. Your mechanic could diagnose the specific problem, and, with this code number we could give you additional tips or details to fixed.

2005 Amanti Check engine light

check all fluids and check the trans with engine running.after you check tranny fluid turn off car and check the rest of the fluids.
then put a obd2 on the electrical connecter and verify the trouble code is from the tranny.
there may be a recall on some things with that.
also on the kia it still maybe under warranty.
these are all good ideas to start with on a car that new to save some fast money.
something is having a hard time at this point of warmup.it may be the transmission but it very well could and may wind up being from a power loss from the engine.
keep me posted
hope this helps
