How to replace the rear brakes clamps on a 2005 chevy cavalier

do one side at a time so you have a model to look at. the only thing that is different is the adjusters. There is a gear on the outside and has to be put back in the proper orientation.
Cell phone pic would work.
pull tires off, block up rear of car.
note the position of the gear toward front or rear.
notice one shoe has more pad that the other.
there are two washers with springs behind them that hold the shoes in place. They rotate 90 deg. to remove.set all parts where they are able to be organized.
On the bottom connecting the shoes is the piece with the gear.
pry out with regular pliers.
At this point the tensioning springs should be loose enough to remove. They go from the post on top to the shoes.
clean up but avoid the dust. brake clean works the best.
the shoe with the parking brake hooks to a cable set next to the new one to transfer the parts. If you get a new post and spring clip use it. If any parts are broken take to the parts store and get new ones.
first attach parking brake cable.
Putting back together can be tedious without the tool used on the washer and spring.
There is a thin post you have to line up push through the washer and turn 90 this first.
then insert the adjuster with the gear on it in proper orientation.
there are two flat spots on the shoes for this.
there might be a thick piece of metal on the post, make sure it is in place
next attach the tension springs by hooking into the shoe then the post on top. the tool isn't expensive and makes it very easy.
done. you have to adjust shoes with the drum on to get a good brake pedal. take lots of pics if this is a first time.

How do i adjust the rear parking brake on a 2004 chevy silverado 2500 hd 4x4

on the 04 chevy silverado theirs cable equilizers that stable your cables of your parking brakes check to see if those arent loose or damaged in anyway if so replace if not remove the rear wheels and use a brake spoon to spin the adjuster nut on the o4 chevy their is not slots in the sides of the brake drum or the dust shield so it is a hastle trying to find if your on the adjuster or not but once you tinker with it for a while you will get the hang of it

Where doe's that spring go on rear brake drums 1996 chevy truck every thing is at top not at bottom, star wheel adjuster?

there should be several springs. first there are (2) real short springs that hold the shoes to the dust cover/back plate. they go in the center of each shoe. then there is a short spring that goes at the bottom where the adjuster is located. there should be a hole in each shoe. finally there is a long spring that goes at the top where your brake cylinder is and this is what gets attched last after your emergancy brake levers are placed between the shoes .
