This sounds to me like you have a restriction in your fuel line somewhere. How do you know your fuel pump is good? Is it a mechanical or electric fuel pump? What make of vehicle?

Hi I am Vortash sounds like a blocked fuel injector or if your vehicle is not fitted with the fuel injection system a blocked main jet or fractured or perforated diagphram in the carb so as you push the accelerator the fuel is not being pumped into the inlet manifold . if carb type fitted check needle valve seat and remove main jet and clean , if non Nsu type carb check float chambers for contamination ,Check manifold seals for leakage .
Fuel Injected systems check all plugs to sensors and check air flow valve , remove plugs after attempt to start and see if wet thereby faulty pressure valve pumping too much fuel Ie : flooding . Check all plugs on ECU and throttle resistor (controller ) hope this helps regards vortash

1996 dodge dakota, used bad fuel, won't start

Pump the tank dry of the fuel using the electric fuel pump, just jump the fuel pump relay to get the pump to run and remove the supply line to the injectors and attach a hose. Use extreme caution around gasoline, no sparks, ground the container to the truck.

2009 chevy aveo ran out of gas now it wont crank

No crank to a mechanic means the starter motor doesn't spin the engine over, is this what you mean? Or do you mean the engine cranks over but will not fire up and run? If it is the latter have you added at least 3 gallons of gas to the tank to make sure the electric fuel pump inside the tank can properly prime? If not do that, also you can spray starting fluid into the engine engine air intake pipe after adding the 3 gallons and see if that gets it going. If it still will not start you have burned up the fuel pump and you will need to drop the fuel tank and replace the pump, remember the pump is cooled and lubricated by the gasoline it runs in, so when you run low on fuel or out you can very quickly severely damage the small electric fuel pump. Never let the gas gauge level go below 1/8 tank to prevent premature fuel pump failure.

1988 CHEVROLET CAPRICE CLASSIC 305 engine. Vehicle running rough for a few days. Vehicle started sputtering, then shut off. Fuel in tank. good crank, no start. checked fuel line while cranking, fuel...

Fuel pump because it's not making enough pressure. That's why it's coming out of line but not getting to injectors. Check and see if someone may of put in line filter if so it could be clogged up.

I have a 88 chev v6 impounded scince 06 trying to get it running it will fire but wont run not geting any fuel to engine i tried pooring a little fuel dow throtle body had small fire now i dont know how...

A TBI system should never have raw fuel poured down the butterfly. You state you had a fire, but without seeing it myself, I cannot gage the damage your vehicle might have suffered. That would depend on the size and duration of the fire, but to be safe, replace the injector assemblies. This is very easy to do on a TBI engine. Pouring fuel into a throttle body will not make the engine start drawing fuel from the tank; fuel is supplied to the engine fromt the tank by the electric fuel pump in the tank. A vehicle sitting unused and unsefviced for four years is going to have several fuel system problems, none of which can be repaired by a slug of gas in the TBI. By now, the fuel in your tank is bad, the fuel in the fuel pump is bad, the fuel in the lines is bad, the fuel in the fuel filter is bad, and the fuel in the injectors is bad. Gasoline is an organic product, not a chemical, and it has a shelf-life just like any food.
If you are sufficiently handy with tools, you will need to remove the fuel tank from your truck and empty all the old gas from it. Remove the fuel pump from the tank; disconnect the fuel lines from the throttle body and the vapor canister under the hood on the headlight bezel, remove and discard the old frame rail fuel filter and replace it with a new one (just remove it first--don't replace it until you have cleaned out the fuel lines with compressed air and a gas solvent), and remove and discard the old fuel injector assembly that sits atop the TBI like a spider. You will need a new one of these as well.
Have an automotive repair shop steam clean the tank. Using an air compressor with a nozzle gun, blow out all the fuel lines. At the minimum, you will have to clean the fuel pump with gas solvent repeatedly to remove all the sludge and varnish that forms in gasoline when left unused for lengthy periods of time, at worst, you will have to replace it as well.
When everything is clean and new as needed, re-assemble the fuel system, and put about two gallons of fresh new gasoline in the tank. (No more than two gallons; you may have to remove the tank again, and it won't be so heavy if you do not fill it.)
The Chevrolet fuel pump is self-priming but may take several seconds to prime and supply fuel to the engine.
You will also need to replace the spark plugs, plug wires, rotor and cap as a result of this long period of inactivity. Good luck; it can take some time to start a computer-controlled engine that has not been started in many years.

I ran out of gas in a 1997 Chevy Blazer, put gas in, but still won't start.

The fuel filter may be to dirty to let the gas flow through and will need to be replaced, or most common when you run out of gas is the fuel pump will burn it self out. The fuel in the tank will keep the fuel pump cooled and will keep it from burning out, if you ran it out of gas. The pump may have burn out and will need to be replaced. Check the fuse first and hope the fuse blown due to the extra amp drown from the pump running without fuel. If the fuse is good, then check to see if you can hear the fuel pump start up when you turn the ignition key to the run position. Note the fuel pump will only energize the fuel line for 5 seconds, so you need to listen for the pump to turn on right away. The other thing too, is you can check the fuel pressure at the shredder valve, there should be 62 to 65 PSI when energizing the fuel line and will drop around 5 PSI when the engine is running. Make sure you do not try to start the engine by pouring gas down the throttle body, it been know for the gas to catch fire in the intake manifold and burn up the fuel injector system which is very costly. Start with the simple and check the fuses and fuel pump, then replace the fuel filter. At worst, your going to have to replace the fuel pump by dropping the gas tank and don't forget to replace the wire harness from the fuel pump to the frame. Good luck and hope this helps, keep me posted. Be glad to know you got your Blazer running again soon.

Truck will start only when gas is put in carburetor

Does it stay running when you get it started pouring the gas into the intake? If so I would replace the fuel filter or check the fuel line pressure where it goes into your intake.

If it doesn't stay running, I would look at replace the fuel pump.

Good Luck

Mistakinly put 50 litres diesel in my almost empty petrol tank

The first thing i'd tell you is to not run the engine at all before fixing this if possible. Diesel fuel doesn't burn very good in a gasoline engine, if at all... There is not enough compression in a gas engine to get the diesel hot enough to burn, even with a spark plug.

There is a few ways to go about this but the easiest one is to find and disconnect the line coming from the gas tank to the engine, as close to the fuel pump as possible (preferably before the filter) and route it to an empty container, then jump 12V to the fuel pump motor terminals, or jump the fuel pump relay terminals (to get the pump running) and let it pump the diesel fuel out in the container...

As a precaution I'd change the fuel filter after this, fill the tank back up with clean gasoline, and give the car a good run... You can expect the engine to smoke and run bad for a little while, as there will still be a little diesel going through.

As for the cost to get it done, I really couldn't give you a straight answer... They could do it like I said or another way (drop the gas tank...) It's not that hard to do if you do it yourself or find someone you know who can do it or a good "backyard" mechanic, but I'm sure some of the shops out there could write up a nice repair bill for this...

the only thing this could be is the fuel filter is plug or the fuel pump is out before you do all of this check your fuel pump relay first before you go to the first two.

I ran out of gas in my 95 chevy caveiler and i filled it up but the car still wont start is there anything i can do to fix this without takeing it to a shop

Try holding the gas pedal to the floor and crank the engine. Don't crank for more than a minute as it will burn out the starter. Good luck and if this doesn't work we can try something else. Please rate me so I know how I'm doing. Thank you.

Won't Start

You need to run a fuel pump pressure drop test, after the engine is shut off the pressure should not drop more than 5 PSI, if it does the fuel pump check valve is defective and you will need to replace pump. You haven't picked up a tank of bad gass have you? it happens from time to time.
