My 2007 ford focus stalls out when driving. Then will not run when I try to start it back up. Kind of feels like it's vapor locking. Is this a sign of the fuel pump going bad?

Thomas, a faulty/weak fuel pump could show these symptoms, so could a partially clogged filter, among other possible causes. Best to have vehicle scanned, diagnosed and estimate for repair. Check the attached links, instruction and guides, Good luck

I have a 2000 ford focus that smells like rotten eggs. It runs great. Where could the smell be coming from?

You have ignition cylinder misfires or a rich fuel
condition, that most likely ruined the exhaust converter
That is what you smell, a converter that should operate
900 to 1300 degrees
Yours got to 1600 & melted down
Now you need to solve ALL ENGINE ISSUES FIRST
then replace the converter & oxygen sensors

Replaced 02 sensor in 2000 ford focus but still get the same codes

Why not try a used ECM? and get the key from the same vehicle if it is chipped. If yours and it are chipped, cut a non chipped key for your ignition.and once the used (known good working unit) ecm is installed ,use the nonchipped key in your ignition while holding the ecm key next to your ignition switch to start the vehicle.Once started run it and see if the same codes come up.If all is OK tape the chipped key under the plastic at the ignition lock and use non chipped keys now and pass the smog.

My 2000 ford focus dohc stalls n loosing power wile driveing then stalls n u have strong exusust smells

Hello, You may benefit from a FREE scan of your car at Autozone, Advance, or Oreily autoparts stores. If your problem started after getting some gasoline, this does sound alot like bad gas.

The self Diagnostic computer in your car should make the "Check Engine" light activate if it is a Mechanical defect. There is a part called a "Throttle Position Sensor" which sets the timing and fuel flow for the conditions the engine needs to run at. These settings change almost instantaneously and a failing part could make it work intermittently.

The balance of the Engine Management System would generate a traceable Code. If the exhaust smells like Sulfur, there is usually too mush gas. A sweet exhaust smell indicates an Internal Antifreeze leak into the engine head, and your Antifreeze level will draw down. Stale gas has a Metallic smell like steel melting in a Foundry oven.

If the Diagnostic tests do not confirm anything, then try getting a fuel sample done and have the Fuel filter changed at the same time. There is pressure in the system and you may need to bleed off the pressure before the Fuel filter will come off. This can be a messy job. There are also tools specially made to decouple the filter.

That is about all I can recommend at this time.

2001 ford focus had the spark plugs and wire change. Has a code po171.. ran good for two days. The spark plugs are blacker than acs of spades which is running rich. Don't know what to do next. To me its...

PO171-System to Lean (Bank 1)

Air filter cover tight?
All intake ducting tight?
Clean MAF Sensor.--CRC MAF Cleaner
Fuel Pressure Regulator?
EVAP Purge Valve-stuck open?
Vacuum leaks?
EGR System-issues?

Seems your getting a lean O2 Code, because it is trying to correct for a rich condition,as you said.

Is the Throttle Position Sensor-original?

Work on what is driving it rich,my list is a possible.

Ford fiesta power loss

You need to check for codes to begin with. If no codes then we can start guessing. A code is pretty strait forward. Without a code, hands on will be the only way to diagnose this issue.

2000 Audi s4 has strong smell of gasoline

Pop the hood and check all the fueling lines, then check your gas tank and see if you just spilled some. Then check your exhaust pipes because you are probably running rich. You may need to change your spark plugs, or possibly a mass air flow sensor, or oxygen sensors. you should get either a vagcom to scan it or an OBD-II scanner.

P0172 is a fuel system always rich code, on most explorers I have found the Mass Air Flow sensor is the root cause of the problem.

I have a 2000 Ford Focus SOHC. In the past few days, it has surged at stop lights. The brake pedal is very hard and the car has extremely poor power. It finally quit running and now I have a cranks but no...

I would go buy a fuel pressure gauge and check the fuel pressure. If the pressure is good, the next thing I would do is change the coil pack. The deterioration of performance is a sign that the coil is bad. It would help a great deal if you had a friend who could read the engine code. If you can get the car to Autozone, they can read the code for you.
