How much to fix a cracked block

Basically, you don't "fix" cracked blocks....you replace them.

Now, having said that, is this cracked block causing a loss of coolant?

If this is the problem, there are some block sealers on the market that do a commendable job. Thing is, if it works....great! If it doesn't...well, you didn't spend an arm and a leg for the sealer.

A product I've used with some success is Head Gasket Repair and Block Seal by Bar's Leaks. It'll run around $13.00 for a 20 oz. bottle. Check www.barsleaks.com for all their products.

Good luck!

I have a 1993 jeep grand Cherokee. It overheated and wen I put water in it, it flushes straight out real fast near the transmission. Wen I looked at it, it looks like the engine block is cracked. How can I...

Cracked block? Eh... You can try to have it welded but thats not a promising fix. I think you may have signed your jeeps death certificate. On the bright side you can pick up a used motor from a salvage for around $450. Try welding it. Its worked for me before.

Water leaking from a freeze plug and water in the oil pan in a 283 small block chevy engine

If you have a bad or leaky freeze plug, also known as soft plugs, it needs to be replaced. Your brass plugs are the best, and in some hard to get to places there are rubber plugs that can be adjusted to fix the problem. But if you have oil in the oil pan, assuming no one put water in the engine. You probably overheated the engine enough to acquire a cracked head gasket. Normaly that's the problem, could be a cracked head also, but more than likely a gasket. If you decide to remove the heads and replace the gaskets, good idea to have the heads resurfaced.
