Unless there is a problem with the transmission or the oil needs changing you will not replace the filter
it is in the pan and that has to come off to get to it
it doesn't need replacing as it is only a very fine gauze screen and can be washed out
if you do have to get to it then consider adjusting the bands and clutches while the pan is off as well

SOURCE: 1993 Ford Thunderbird transmission

The transmission is an AOD, the rear differential is either a 7.5" or an 8.8" look at the tag on the rear it should have either 7.5 or 8.8 on it.

SOURCE: change fuel filter 1988 ford thunderbird 6 cylinder

In the trunk left side is inertia switch.  rap ******* side with fist, causing button to pop up on top, when this happens the fuel pump will no longer receive power.  Now try to start vehicle, should attempt to start and die.  Fuel system is no de pressurized.  PLease be careful as there is still some pressure in system! and remember to reset inertia switch when done by pressing pop up button back to the down position.

SOURCE: transmission change

You will need to get a repair manual. A Ford Service Manual that can be found on ebay is the absolute best. Your request is too lenthy for this forum.

How to replace transmission filter in 1989 k 1500

If its staying in second gear, problems could be a plugged valve body, electric solenoid failure, or linkage problems.
Changing the filter probably won't help.

Will 1989 gmc 5.7l transmission fits on my 1992 Yukon?

it should.......but a transmission shop will need to verfiy it. Get the trans pan off and check the condition, (excessive metal in th epan) and replace the filter while its out. Have a trans shop check it, you dont want to put in a bad trans.

Hello! i have a 1989 GMC sierra 1500 2 wheel drive 350 engine, and i would like to know what size transmission does it take? the one i have in the truck now it will go into reverse but not drive, it leaks...

I would try replacing the transmission filter and fluid. There 2 different transmissions that came in the truck, a THM 400 3 speed, 13 bolt fluid pan, and a THM 700-R4 4 speed, 16 bolt fluid pan.

My transmission wont shift from 2nd to 3rd gear

did you drop the pan replace the filter and add four to five quarts,If still a problem try doing a full transmission flush at a quick lube.
A transmission flush with Lucas trans tune up will probably fix your non shift issue, try this first before looking into a new tranny !
