Probably is a vent hose since the battery is in the trunk. I just disconnected the battery as I was leaving for a month and saw the hose dangling. It is long, about 24 inches and does not seem to have a male connection anywhere. Hose is about 3/8 inch outside diameter. If it is to drain fumes maybe it just is free to vent??
    Thanks

    Thanks Mark
My hose is about 1/2 inch in diameter and I think is used to vent battery fumes. I found a male connection on the battery.

Does your battery sit on top of a hard plastic base? On mine, a rubber hose about the size of a vacuum line connects to that base in the engine compartment and to a point through the passenger fire wall to another point under the dash in the passenger footwell. If you start the engine and hear a sucking sound, then those are the 2 connection points for that hose.

Drain hose? or, vent hose for battery? Likely vent hose...Keeps battery fumes out of cabin. attaches to top of battery if that's what you are talking about.

Should connect the battery somewhere at the top (unless a different battery was used on replacement) Usually its secured so it can vent beneath the car where it wont do any damage.

My 94 jaguar xj6 battery drains even if the car is turned off what could be causing this

I have less than fond memories of tracing electrical troubles in a Jaguar (though much older than yours). Here's the basic process you need to follow:
1. Pull all the fuses. Does the battery drain overnight?
If yes, then a circuit that is not fuse protected is the problem. Start with starter/solenoid, etc. Disconnect each thing and test with meter.
2. If battery drain stops, then use meter to check current drain on each fuse. One will have more than a trickle.
3. Once you find which system is draining, you can narrow it down further by disconnecting each thing on that circuit.

Yeah, It's a pain, and may take days, but you can find it.

My 1994 jaguar xj6 has a problem where the battery drains quite frequently. is this a common problem? or is it just a bad battery? the car was sitting for about 3 years and was not driven.

Charge the battery with an external charger for about 6 hours, then start the engine and measure the battery voltage with the engine running. It should measure 13.5 volts or more. If it reads 12.6 or less volts, then the alternator is not recharging the battery. Take the car to Autozone or similar business for a free check out of the alternator and voltage regulator. They will be happy to sell you any needed parts. Hope this helps!

1994 xj6 -- battery will not stay charged unless you drive it at least evry 2/3 days -- replaced battery with cheap to the best battery does not make a diff: Nothing appears to be left on

I have the same problem with my jag and because i only drive her at weekends its a right pain, i've put my battery drain down to cat one alarm as theres nothing left on apart from clock.
Going to try one of those solar trickle charge panels, plugs into cig lighter and put it on dash its meant to trickle charge battery.

1994 Jaguar xj6 battery loses all power after sitting idle 3 to 7 days. Shows normal charging rate. has new batt. all systems off except theft alarm. HELP!

you have a battery power drain.  Remove one fuse at a time until you find which circuit it's in.  This will take a while but it will find the problem and it's free.
