THE ALTERNATOR IS MOUNTED ON THE ENGINE, THEN THE ALTERNATOR HAS A WIRING HARNESS THAT CONNECTS TO IT, PART OF THAT HARNESS CHARGES THE BATTERY (LARGEST WIRE, RED) THE OTHER WIRE IS THE STATOR WIRE AND THAT GOES TO THE DASH OF THE CAR, THAT IS WHAT TURNS ON THE BATTERY OR ALTERNATOR WARNING LIGHT IN THE DASH INSTRUMENTS
