If it is bolted on, then by all means do. It will make the job easier. I haven't worked on yours. But I have had to pull the transmission or the engine to do this job.

How to remove oil pan on 2008 ford f250 4x4 with 5.4l

You must disconnect everything and raise up the motor and put in wood blocks to keep it steady on the motor mounts the sump must be able to clear cross member and axle you will most likely have to unbolt it then take out the pick up tube that goes into the sump then it should come out installation is the reverse of removal

How remove renault Sump

Your will have to hoist the engine before hand and when ready to unbolt the sump from its position,un bolt the engine mount bolts making sure that every thing is safe & no problems will occur also removing engine oils. Then lift the engine up alittle off its mounts & then you should be able to remove the sump successfully away from the cross member & other interferances that are in the way. If you don't have a hoist then a car jack can be used with a small buffer of wood or soft rubber to jack the engine up. But please becareful with your self under there. Remember the energy spent on the job is prepare 90% for your safety then 10 % for the job in hand.

Knocking sound from bottom of engine ,on the sump

I would be checking for a broken engine mount that has allowed the engine to fall down onto the cross member. Remove each plug lead in turn to determine if the noise fades . If so it will be a big end bearing

Engine removal

There is a device that you can put on the hook and there are too chains down to the lifting points of the engine The hook point can be screwed back and forth allowing the engine to tilt down at the back and the angle achieved will allow the engine to clear any problems . You can achieve an angle of lift up to 60 degrees safely. When refitting the engine as you put the engine in as you lower the engine you can alter the angle to glide it in and up to the gear box flange perfectly

Need to know how to swap a manual transmission in a 1956 Thunderbird. Does the engine need pulled to do the swap?

IF you can remove the rear transmission cross member to allow the gear box to move down and back then there is no need to remove the engine . Just support the rear of the engine (jack under sump) as you will have to lower the rear of the engine to get the box /bell housing back under the floor pan

Getting access to the big ends

Hi,
This link will give you FREE or PAID - select FREE - it will download a 96 Engine but the engine is the same as you have in the basics. You must have a PDF reader it is free to download and use and most everyone has it but if not please download it HERE
There is an additional helpful thing for you - - please take down the vin number - and go to the dealer - the dealer for FREE will print out your specific engine rebuild needs specific for your engine based on your unique Vin number. This is more and more common due to changes mid year where as in the early days engines remained the same for years longer and now they change mid-year often. Also CHECK for RECALLS on your Vehicle.

I hope this does you good. PLEASE RATE ME HELPFUL - It really makes a difference for me.

Thanks and let me know how this goes with a comment please.
Thanks,
Gary

Where is the oil pan located on me 1997 lincoln continental?

The simple answer is, bolted to the bottom of the engine. Ford and Lincoln vehicle generally have the cross member right under the engine, so the oil pan is obscured by it. Many oil pans on rear wheel drive Ford products have 2 oil sumps or wells, 1 near the front just behind the belt pulleys, and the other just behind the cross member, this one also has the oil drain plug for oil changes. Not sure why you are looking for the oil pan, so I hope this helps.
