Opening the door with the key should turn the alarm off. It is the certified way to get into a car if the key fob remote fails. Get a local auto locksmith to get you a new fob and key and program it. Keep the old one as a spare key.

... will show you How To Replace Mitsubishi Endeavor Key Fob Battery 2004 2005 To Order This Remote ...
Yes - Sometimes when the battery is replaced the key program can be corrupted. It would be a starting point to have the key reprogrammed just to eliminate it as a source of trouble.
If not the battery (replacement) then check to make sure the transponder is not missing from the remote. Should be a small plastic to slot in the key. If still not working then you may need to reprogram it. It can only work if you have 2 set of keys to put in the ignition:
[1] Take the key that needs programming put it in the ignition and turn to the on position and then press and hold in the alarm reset button..
[2] While still holding in the reset button turn the ignition off and remove the key..
[3] Re-insert the key and turn the Ignition to the ON position.
[4] Release the alarm reset button and then press it in once..
[5] Now with the ignition still switched on take hold of your SPARE key and press the lock button on your spare key..the alarm should "BEEP" once..
[6] Now press the Lock button on the key that has lost its programming..alarm should "BEEP" again..
this usually happens when the battery has been disconnected from the vehicle, what happens is when the battery is disconnected the locking system fitted to the car has a pass-code that only the key-fob can access, as a result of the battery being removed the pass-code for the locking system on the car resets and does not recognise the fob being used. Your best chance to get this sorted is to take it into your local garage/dealer and get the fob linked back up to the cars locking system.

Sometimes when you cycle the ignition (turn the key from off to start and back to off again) to often in a short period of time (usually 8 times in 10 seconds or so) on accident, the remote access personality module will enter its programming mode by default. This is how the dealership will program in new remotes for your vehicle. However, if it is done unintentionally, and then no new remote is entered into the system (done by simply pressing any key on the remote within the next 20 seconds or so) then any previous remotes programmed into the RAP module are erased. Hence, your remote will no longer work, until and unless it is reprogrammed using the above method.
