It's interesting no one has address the question that I have asked!!

There is no connection to the rear window antenna! The connection button is open.

    Nothing is connected to it.

Could that be the problem? If so where is the wire that should be connectedto it?

  • Jerre N. Fischer Jul 13, 2009

Interesting that YOUR EXPERT ADVICE is to take it to a cadillac dealer and have it fixed.

You want to charge me $20 bucks for that information.

You don't have any better info than that I suggest you forget calling yourself an EXPERT!!

HOW ABOUT A SCAM ARTIST INSTEAD!!

$20 bucks? I could have ask any bum on the street and got that info!!

Hello there, you are definitely suffering from internal interference. Either the connection on the back of the radio to the antenna has become loose or something in the car is emitting a frequency similar to the AM frequency and is blocking the signal. The button on the read window could be causing it if somehow it isn't making the connection correctly. Hard to say exactly where it plugs in without seeing it.

Did this problem just occur out of the blue one day? Was it around the same time the read window stopped working / you noticed that it was unplugged?

I would think a Cadillac dealer would be able to diagnose and fix this problem very quickly, that is still a very new model, maybe it's still under some kind of warranty?

If indeed this just happened out of the blue then that is very strange.

Please let me know,

Thanks

Tim

Hello there, it sounds like the actual AM receiver is probably loose on
the back of the radio. This can happen, FM side could be snug but the
AM side could be loose or unplugged even, if that's the case then the
radio is basically trying to pick up the signal with no antenna.

I can't imagine how a button on the rear window could affect the AM reception so much... if you just got the car I'd swing it by the place you got it from and see if they can pull the radio out and check it, either that or any local Cadillac dealer.

    Thanks so much!

    Tim

Sir I told you the issue, if you are capable of pulling out the cd player head unit and checking it yourself then feel free to do so. I was simply saying that most consumers aren't able to do this on their own and need to take it by a dealer. What more do you want me to do? If I could I would reach over there and check the unit for you... but obviously that's not possible. I'm surprised as well that you didnt just try a dealer before coming on here and paying for someones advice.

I'm not trying to scam you sir, calm down, lol.

    Thanks
    Tim

    Hello again

Yes I am thinking that you either need the wire for the rear window antenna, it should definitely have one, or a connection on the back of the cd player head unit. I take it you bought this used from an individual, is that why you are so hesitant to go by a dealer? Sounds like you will either need a new connection cable / wire for the rear window, or to have the connection attached behind the radio.

Does you Cadillac have onstar? If so then it's possible that your onstar doesn't work as well because that usually also goes through the cable in the back window.

Also, does your car have window tints? I have seen many times when people get their windows tinted the technician forgets to put that wire back in. Of course since you got the car second hand who knows where the person / wire is now...

    Thanks
    Tim

Are you sure you replaced the bulbs with the same brand/model as on the passenger side? There are a lot of different versions with different light colors and intensities.
If so, have you made sure there is no water vapor in the headlight housing, and that the silvering inside is not degraded?

ok the easiest way to check is to take a voltage probe and check each wire this way it will tell you which wire is recieving current. the positive side should be marked either red, yellow or green with black stripe and sometimes orange. on the ground side it should be marked black, white, turn signals should be green for right side and yellow with black stripe for left. running and parking lights should be brown. back up lights are marked blue.
